I didn't feel it myself, because I'm in the basement, but a bunch of my friends did! Anyone else feel it? it happened about 1:45pm EST and lasted 10-30 seconds.

Wow..glad your ok man. I myself have never been in one, however some of my relatives lived in Cali for a very long time and they told they can be pretty bad depending on the situation. Did anyone that you know have to replace anything?

I love how the first response is "Are you Okay" and the next is "Is your stuff okay"...not being snide or insensitive, but I find that this occurs waaaaay too often, and it's funny to me :)

Well Earthquakes are EXTREMELY RARE in Ontario and Quebec, so I can understand the concern.
Yes, I'm alright, and as far as I know there was no significant damage done to anything, it mostly just freaked a lot of people out. Some more than others. Everyone's okay though. =)

Still waiting for the "Big One" that we've been overdue for here in Cali. Should be fun!

I'm in Cleveland, Ohio. I guess some folks around here felt it, I didn't.

SO OMIGOSH, this was all over my local news today cause it was felt all the way down in western mass! I was watching it thinking. "what the crap was I doing and where was I, cause I did not feel it. at all."
I was shocked lol. Either im EXTREMELY unattentive or the building I was in today is uber stable.

Lol, us Californian's are used to this. Earthquakes aren't a big deal if you're prepared for it and have Construction Laws/Standards in place to protect against them.
Just another day with Mother Nature.
PS. It's a secret I'll share with you. California Media plays Earthquakes up to such lengths, so that people won't move over to our coast. We don't like over crowded beaches.

o.O I'm confused as to what you're objecting to. Wouldn't it be ironic if it were the other way around, not the way that he stated it? Asking about material items before asking about safety is what would be objectionable in my eyes. He asked about safety and then material items.

Hahaha. THIS. ^
The one that was supposed to ANNIHILATE San Francisco? I've moved TO The City and OUT OF the city since that was said and "the big one" still hasn't happened.

Yeah, we're used to it, though. I mean, if a tornado were to hit California, we'd all be flipping out because we've never experienced it before. They just don't ever experience earthquakes.

My parents told me that they've been hearing the same thing all their lives. We'll see though.
5.5 Would probably scare someone who isn't used to them. It would definitely be on the news here, reporting any damage and where it originated, but the craze would pass in a day.

If a Tornado hit I'm running to my bathroom, jumping in the tub, and carrying the mattress with me to use as a cover.
5.5 is a decent size though. It'll do some damage to windows and knock a few things down if you're close to the origin.

I remember the one in the 80's, my dad was laughing at my mom because she grabbed me and ran downstairs. I'm not sure if that was the safest place to be, but my dad clearly didn't think so. Most of the people at my workplace ran outside.

I remember that one. I was on the playground at recess in elementary school, 1st or 2nd grade, I can't remember.

I remember the 7.2 Loma Prieta quake 17OCT89. You have no comprehension of what real power is until you have experienced it first hand. There are no words in all of the languages man has ever spoken that could convey to you what it is like. I won't even try.
