Ok so i downloaded windows messenger and it started to screw up my internet. As in like after a while it won't upload web pages fast it takes forever to load. What coul be making it do that?

First I would suggest you go make sure it didn't install anything else along with it, like a toolbar, go to control panel and look through add/remove programs. AIM and Yahoo also like to install toolbars and things like that, a toolbar like that could be a cause. Also, check your running programs (Ctrl+Alt+Delete) and see if there are any running processes that you know you don't need. If you really know what's what with computers, download Hijackthis (http://www.download.com/HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10379544.html?tag=lst-0-1), a system processes program that tells you EVERYTHING that is currently running on your system. With this you can remove any processes that don't belong (WARNING if you don't know a lot about your system don't try this, if you still try anyways, make sure system restore is enabled).

If nothing works my last resort is (at least for the time being) getting Firefox (http://www.mozilla.com/), a different web browser that probably won't be interfered with.

Thxs i checked and i didn't install a toolbar and i would do the whole ctrl alt delete thing but my grandfather has installed so much stuff for like firewalls and nortons it wouldn't help...

So the pages aren't loading in Firefox then? Have you tried internet explorer too? Sometimes programs interfere with each other and you just have to try a different one. One time I had Firefox installed and Half Life 2 wouldn't run. It still loads the pages right? Just takes a while? I have another suggestion, it might be just messenger itself causing the issue, so first uninstall messenger and see if your internet picks up again. If you still want to use messenger (we're talking about MSN messenger right?) you can download Trillian (http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/) and use your messenger account via Trillian without messenger installed. Try what I first suggested, uninstall messenger and see if for sure it was the cause of the problem.

Glad to be of service, if you have any trouble with trillian just give me a yell, it's all I use (ok, ok xfire too). BTW, Trillian works as an emulator for AIM, YAHOO, IRC, MSN, and Google Chat, I think you can download plugins for other programs as well (I wish Skype but so far nope). Good Luck!!
