I've been playing the latest incarnation of the Winning Eleven series WE10 today. The game more commonly known to the football community as Pro Evolution Soccer 6 is looking yet again like a great improvement on its predecesor while maintaining the same look and feel. This has long been one of my favourite games of all-time and the daunting prospect of a new version hasn't changed my mind. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
I played the Japanese version (haha funny commentary in game) and instantly I saw how fast the game runs. The player animations are much better overall, for example the player models look less static and rigid when going up for headers and volleys etc. KCET have sorted out the collision between player models now so it isn't as twitchy. This is a definite improvement as it was the lack of decent collision barriers on PES5 that lead to stupid fouls being given and PCs/NPCs hitting invisible walls. I scored some amazing goals (won 3 games 5-3, 3-1 and 3-1). The goals looked and felt like watching real football and that to me is the defining reason to why true football fans play PES instead of Fifa. The goalkeepers are better in some ways but like true European keepers in real football they tend to puch and deflect the ball clear alot resulting in rebounds and sometimes an inability to hold shots that are too powerful.
All in all this game is amazing! If you're a hardcore supporter/follower of football (ok...soccer..whatever) and/or a team then this game is the one to play. It is going to be out on the Xbox 360 very soon.
