Im gonna start tonight playing...and i know im gonna need help (ive played an MMO..but it was FFXI on 360......so yea xD) so if anyone could help me with the new lingo....and also with just playing in general i would greatly appreciate it! *offers cookies around*

Well hello, I started playing WOW yesterday, everyone is on the Scilla realm but I have yet to get in contact with them in game. My name is JenArtemis so add me to your friends list (hit O). ok heres some quick lingo that might help with your playing. i play on Lightning's blade. with 42 alliance rogue. and a couple of other characters.
A safe site i found was www.allakhazam.com it has forums if you want to learn something. the players that use that site are nice. and its a huge database of world of warcraft knowledge. Happy horde/alliance hunting

yeah I know about that place, I'm not THAT kind of newb I've done MMO's before. That site has a Guild Wars version and I think a SWG version too. Good site. I just keep hearing about thottbot.com, and how it's THE WoW place. *shrug* I'll use all.... ummm.....all two of them hehe.

List of shorthands that are crucial to know:

General terms --

WTS -- Waiting/Wanting to sell...
WTT -- Waiting/Wanting to trade...
WTB -- Waiting/Wanting to buy...
PST -- Please send tell (usually an in-game whisper)
LF -- Looking for...
LFG -- Looking for group
LFM -- Looking for member

Class specific terms --

Tank -- Warrior/Feral Druid
Water cooler/Vendor/Vending machine -- Mage
Healer -- Priest, Druid, Paladin, Shaman
Lock -- Warlock
DPS -- Damage per second (higher dps = higher damage; usually recruiting massive offensive classes like a rogue, hunter, or mage)
Need port -- Asking a mage to make a portal to a town
Attuned -- Attunement for Onyxia, Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, or Naxxramas.

Those are a few, but they should be getting you started...

Not a problem. I see you're a mage and a priest. I do have a 60 troll priest and can give you some healthy advice about how to level the fastest with one. With a mage, however, that is not my forte. I have heard though that the fire/arcane build is the quickest and most efficient way to level.

For a priest, my recommendation is shadow/discipline. Do not go holy till your late 50s, unless if you're going to be constantly running instances without any grinding.

Thanks for the tips. If you end up making new characters on Scilla you can see I won't be very far ahead of you, we could get through the game together.

Yup. Hopefully they'll let me in, even though I don't have a char on there yet. I do have a PvP rank 13 priest and a recently 60 warrior on Bronzebeard though. :D

Actually, you can transfer them. Everyone transfered to Scilla not too long ago. I think it costs money though.

Yeah, I transferred from Burning Blade to Bronzebeard a while back. I'd have to start from scratch again in order to join you guys.

Character transfers are only allowed to happen once every 6 months. So, once you transfer a character from one server to another, you may not do it again for another 6 months.

i had to reinstall it due to a failed patch download...awesome...but now it's almost done. and i already have some help, but for awhile i'll be on my own since i'll be a lowly lvl 1.

dark elf hunter, or i might be a gnome hunter. i haven't really decided on which yet.

its fun either way. you get your pet at lvl 10.

If you're that low in level, you may as well scratch those characters and make new alliance ones on the Scilla server (where PMS plays). Just as an idea.

thought i'd add to since someone linked the allakhazam site i thought ya might wanna know about http://www.thottbot.com/ to since it's a great resource for quests, drop locations, and many other things along with input from players about the items and objectives to help you figure out whats actually worth doing.

ah well yes i agree that thottbot lacks alot as far as visual's it is a much more usefull site if you know your way around the game and don't need to rely on visuals. i find it very usefull for finding weapons and armor and quest info though. it is however not the site i'd go to to se waht something looks like or anything like that.
