View Full Version : Xbox 360 Mics = Worst things ever!

Last night my mute and unmute button was sticking soo bad that it wouldnt let me move it no more so it was stuck on off. Therefore i couldnt talk so i tried moving it back to unmute really hard and bam, the middle long silver part broke in half and its now inside my controller. Im onto my 5th one. They are $20 so thats ummm $120 now. So yeha people tlel me i dont take care of my mics, but thats BS cuz after the first time it hapened i took like great precaution but still, im on my 5th. STUPID. Anyone else have this problem?
Wtf do you do with your mics buddy, Seriously, I have 5 now and havn't used more than 1, never broke any so far. I think they're perfectly well built, you just need to stop chucking em around like crazy.

why don't you buy something that isn't a microsoft brand for a change?
i have a plantronics headset that was 20 bucks, and it works and has worked fine for awhile, the part that goes on your ear has even fallen off, but you just pop it back on and walla! it still works :p

Rip, with all of the stuff you have done to me.......i think i deserve one of those 5. You dont need them anyways. I mean your like god when it comes to handling you mics. At least thats how you describe it lol.

lol i was thinking about buying one of those, but i wasnt sure how good they were. Thats my next move it Rip dosnt send me one.
i don't treat em like anything special, other than I haven't even touched 3 of em. Just don't sit on them buddy and they'll be fine :p

lol ive never sat or stood on them before. Its just the fact that they are pieces of crap. You must have gotten a good mic then. Because 1 day it works and the next, (even though you didnt touch it at any time inbetween) it stops working.

you should wait for the new 360 wireless mic. it's like 50 bucks, but i'm sure it won't break since it's small and you can put it in your pocket, or even somewhere high up....that way...you don't sit on it :p

the sound quality is probably really good on them, since they surround your entire ear ha.
It shows $60 on the MS site, i think it should be $40 personally

they're **** not cuz they break, but cuz they suck. u can never hear outa them. messages are static like hell. and i had a plantronics mic and a 360 mic and a normal xbox microsoft mic and they all broke internally :( i couldnt hear out of them

I do think that the audio quality could be better, but mine hasn't broken yet. I'm still on my headset that I got at launch. I'll consider the wireless one eventually if it is actually any good though. The Motorola headset that came out for NFL Head Coach works pretty well from what I have heard, but it's $50.

B) got a dog/ferret/cousin who keeps chewing on the damn thing. C) the same gnomes that always hides your keys, your cellphone and your left sock have teamed up with Microsoft and are destroying your headset whenever they are bored.

The careful part, i have been extreamly careful since after the first time i broke it. Then i would put it down one night and it was fine. Wake up, go to school and come home and pick it up and it dosnt work no more. And then this time the mute and unmute switch was sticking and it got stuck on the mute side so i couldnt talk anyways so i tried to push it back really hard and it snapped. I dont eat or do anything with my mc on so nothin sticky oculd have got in there.
The sound quality will not improve no matter what you've got hooked into it, thats because they need to use a ton of compression on the voice to transmit it without much bandwidth impact. Same reason your camera images are nice and tiny and used in bandwidth easy games. Not a function of the mic, they're perfectly fine as far as i'm concerned.

I think everyone who hates the sound quality is mad because they play halo 2. Halo 2 is a regualr xbox game and is not made to be used by a 360 mic.

MS is crap when it comes to headsets, I stoped with them after my first two 360 mics broke for absoulutly no reason. Plantronics make better headsets, the only time one of them has broke on me (since my first Xbox) is when a friend's dog chewed it up on me. I now use the Plantronics X30 with no problems.
