I may not be a PMS girl but I have Golden Axe 2 on the Sega Genesis, and I also have played Zelda: Ocarina Of Time on my N64. Oh, I forgot to mention Elder Scrolls 4:Oblivion on the 360 which I'm getting soon.

I don't play console RPGs except Final Fantasy...and 3 & 6 being the best would be your opinion.

Other than that I only play PC rpgs, none of which you've listed.

Actually we have really branched into many game types not just FPS, we also have MMO divisions for Final Fantasy and World of Warcraft.

We have fighter divisions in DOA and soon Tekken. Racing divisions in PGR and soon Forza.

And of course we still compete in Halo 2, Graw, CoD, and our PS2 division competes in SOCOM.

Our casual division is open for any games, 360 arcade, PDZ, and so on that we are not competetive in.

These are pretty much the most active divisions currently.

I played Morrowind (sp?) from the Elder Scrolls series but I put it down fairly quickly. That game was seriously hard for someone who cut their teeth on EverQuest. It was cool though, sort of.

so actually pms is dedicated mostly to fps which doesn't really take a lot of skills next to fighting games, though strategy/military inteligence conquers mostly in high level play.

few top games imo (strategy/conquer)PC related:
1)starcraft
2)commandos and conquer
3)warcraft 2
4)warcraft 3
5)moon project

anywayz i dont want to cause trouble or anything since this is an rpg topic so i wait for more answers from female gamers that can say about their RPG experience and please...dont talk to me about wow or everquest or elder scrolls because those are new type rpgs that includes mmorpg system and frankly its not as fun as classic RPG imo ok?

sorry for the double post but i must answer this:

creed zelda is an action/rpg its a big difference :) also i love sidescrolling shooting game...my fav has to be ikaruga or mushihimesama that is all.

i have not played the pokemon earlier days but ill be willing to give it a try and to see if its good or not...

also the wild arms series sucked big time...i stopped at the 2nd...and suikoden...jeez...suikoden 2 was the best...damn you luca blight...the series sucked after the second one...i still say suikoden tactics is one of the best tactic/rpg game since ogre battle anywayz im done take care

anywayz i didnt mention PC rpgs im sorry,i dont like it very much because it includes mostly online gaming but if you want me to make a list, ill tell you:

Yeah, you mean the style of RPG that actually pre-dated the J-RPG? The RPG style you are trying to reffer to originated in Japan in the early to mid 1980's and didnt hit cult status until around 1986 with the release of Dragon Quest 1. These games were Japan's response to RPGs (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Role-playing_game) of western design such as D&D roleplays, text based MUDs and some early PC titles all of which came years before Japan first invented its now classic top down RPG involving random encounter combat and highly figurative overall presentation.

In the spirit of adding some constructive input to this post, I tried to find a really great article I read on Gamasutra or Next-Gen.biz concerning the history of the RPG but after several minutes of searching, I couldnt find it. I did find this though which is surprisingly in line with what you were trying to instigate through this post except it covers it from the angle of contributions to the industry via innovation and new ideas.

excuse me about my english,i am still getting used to spanish so what i meant was that fps is not that high skill level play compared to fighting games...because i have so many reasons...
first of all im only going to talk about fps gaming but not fighting gaming because it has a lot of stuff...

to be good in fps:
1)memorize maps for weaker points to your enemies
2)look for the best weapons befor the other opponents gets it
3)good 10-key stroker
4)good at strafing
5)good at short/long range
6)good at headshots
7)patience at time limits...

i wish i had more but i cant picture it but my point of view is that anyone can win at fps if you dedicate really hard please i don't wanna fights it's just my opinion,if you don't like it that means that the truth has hurt you but so on this is an rpg thread

hatemaker: i answered your questions with the pc rpgs so...i hope for some reply but please no flaming youll hate me if i compare fps freaks to fighting/strategy/conquer freaks

My experience tells me otherwise. FPS is the genre I'm worst at. Even after playing CS:S for a year, I'm still not that great. I completely sucked (and still do) at Halo 2. I took less time to get up to speed in RTS games. I've never played fighting games seriously, I enjoy other games more, so I don't really have an opinion on that.

This is the first time I've heard that FPS is not that high level a skilled game - it's all about skill, and it takes time to improve. One of the complaints I heard in EQ is that MMO's take no skill to play, while FPS is ALL about skill (everyone starts on even footing, and the only thing that makes a difference in who wins is skill). I've discovered that what people said in EQ about FPS is true.

anyone can win at fps if you dedicate really hard

What you say is true, although I don't see why you point out fps specifically. Time and dedication is needed to improve in any genre.

2)baldur's gate series

Back on topic, I do agree with you that this is one of the top pc rpg's. Anything else by Bioware for that matter is awesome (the first Knights of the Old Republic game earned several Game of the Year awards, and for good reason). I've played both console and pc rpg's, and they're on about even footing in my book.

ok, i see where you're coming from now. fair enough. it seems we simply have a different taste in games.

i hate mmo's too, but it took me years of playing one to realize that... when i was done i was craving a good single player rpg, and got into final fantasy vi. i had some catching up to do since leaving eq 4 or so years ago, and i'm still catching up - i thought it best to play some of the big titles like final fantasy first, and with the new releases by bioware and square-enix next month it'll stay that way for awhile. rpg's have always been a favorite of mine, but i tend to play more fps and rts titles.

Thats why FPS make all that good money for tournaments? Im sorry but there is skill involved. I have played all the FF series and number 3 and 6 dont excite me too much. I LOVE FF9 LoL. Thats my game right there. You asked for the girls opinions so please stop complaining when they name a game you dont like and tell them to not talk to you about it. Its still in the RPG category and what they have experience in. Its all opinion on likes. Bashing on all of them isnt productive if you dont say why you arnt fond of them LoL. Anyways. Yea. Legend of Dragoon rocks, FF9, Pokemon, and those old games Dragon Warrior or w/e it was called LoL.

Double post so it should merge. You say you dont want hate and yet you are saying you hate all this stuff. Mastering a double shot and making it go through a whole clip and land all the shots takes skill. Making some of the jumps or shots we make takes skill. We also have callouts for places in the maps and for different stuff so we practice team work and strategies. The reason we are mostly based on FPS is because thats where alot of the most competitive games are. We do have a few divisions in other games besides FPS but if you look at overall competitive games and professionally paid games, they are FPS.
We do have girls that play RPG but you dont compete in those or if you do on MMORPGs its not the same way as a FPS. I dont see how you would see FF series as competitive gamming or anything. Another good game is Jade Cacoon. LoL!
