I haven't got to download it yet, since all the servers are utterly slow and I think Gamespot was supposed to have this demo as an "exclusive" untill tomorrow, so it won't spread around to a lot of sites untill then.

Can't say that I've got huge expectations for this one, as I didn't care too much for Battlefield 2 (BF1942 and BF: Vietnam are awesome, though).

IV. NOTES ON COMPATIBILITY
==========================

Battlefield 2142 demo is designed to run on Windows XP compatible graphics and
sound cards. Drivers for these devices are provided by the respective card
manufacturer and may result in compatibility issues beyond our control.

If you are experiencing any issues, it is always recommended that you obtain
and install the latest drivers for your hardware. The majority of hardware
vendors have the latest drivers available for download via their websites.

====================================
V. KNOWN ISSUES AND TROUBLESHOOTING
====================================

CHANGING DISPLAY MODE
Occasionally on some video cards you may be allowed to set the display mode to
one not supported by your computer. This will result in a black screen being
shown. To remedy this use the Windows
Explorer to find and delete the directory:

\My Documents\Battlefield 2142 demo\Profiles\

This will reset your game to the default settings. You can now start the game,
retrieve or create a new profile, and re-adjust the settings using the Menu as
normal.

Players with SoundMAX HD Audio integrated chipsets may experience crackling and
popping audio during game play, if you are experiencing this please ensure you
have the latest hardware drivers installed (see IV. NOTES ON COMPATIBILITY)

Players who have the Windows security update KB917422 installed may suffer from
an application error when running the Battlefield 2142 demo. This error can be
solved by uninstalling the KB917422 update.

Task switching is not fully supported while running Battlefield 2142 demo. If
you use functions such as Alt-Tab and other variations then you may experience
problems.

Ouch, just like BF2 in terms of really high system requirements - doubt i'll be playing it, too much other decent stuff, although the game does look pretty good.

I will be playing, though from what I hear they've dumbed it down quite a bit to make it more user-friendly in terms of gameplay.

Less vehicles, plus the vehicles are easier to operate... that's what I've heard anyway.

I been playing it since the 5th, its worth buying and worth playing. The aircrafts are easy to fly, since I couldn't really get use to flying jets in Bf2 that well. One more week and the game comes out for release, and I'll be one of the first ranking up and trying to get all those beautiful unlocks.

Have you downloaded the demo yet? If so, what's your Soldier name?

Mine is DexLuther (big surprise lol) I don't know if the buddy feature works yet.

Played it all throughout the closed beta and open ones.

AH! The game is far from being anywhere as good as BF2. It's so sluggish. The weapons are ineffective and inaccurate. Some of the vehicle's controls are stupidly set up. Like that little hover tank thing. They should have used the same controls as the chopper in BF2 where if you move the mouse to the side it strafes and not have the mouse make it turn or what ever they did. It's really counter-intuitive.

Titan mode has lots of potential, but people tend to camp the aircraft so that when the shields go down they can be the first and only people to board the enemy titan and take it down. And the launcher APCs are kinda hard to find sometimes.

Lol....

If you are refering to the Demo, then yes you are correct on some of your points. But its just the demo, not the actually game. So, there will be somethings wrong with it. Of course. But don't make a judgement, until the game actually comes out for release.

Yeah, when people camp the titan they usually get owned. Either by someone in aircraft spotting them, or when they decide to jump into the titan to take care of it. Best way to defend the titan is to have two supports at the each of the top levels or each of the buttom. APCs are at your main base, not the titan. And if you take certain solios, they will appear depending on who took them. And you have to realize, the hover tank is hovering all the time, its going to be kind hard to contorl it. Because it won't stop on the dime, like everything else. The aircrafts in it were made easier to handle, because most of the aircrafts in bf2 were very hard for most people to control. So, they fined turned it so its very user-friendly.

Since Battlefield 2142 have alot of unlocks for each unit, and 43 ranks, I don't think it will be a bad game at all, since those unlocks help you greatly against all types of enemies. The game will be pretty decent, but like everything there will be some type of glitch in it where someone can take advantage with, its common in every game, but the demo is good by far, until the real game release.

I *did* download it but it's not running on Vista for me. argh.

I'll troubleshoot it some more tonight but I have a feeling I might not be able to get it to work.

Played the demo but wasn't very fun for a sniper because everybody is in Mechs, armored vehicles or up in the Titans.

The thing about the Demo is exactly that. It's a Demo. It's supposed to show you what the game is like so you can decide if you want to buy it or not (the goal obviously is to have to buy it).

So the game in the demo is pretty much what you're going to get from the full release the only difference being a couple last minute bugs will be fixed and you'll have access to all the features.

If you don't like the demo, then you probably won't like the full game either.

I don't like how the guns get MORE accurate the longer you fire. This encourages a Halo play style. From what I've seen so far it's exactly was we're getting. Play support and run into people guns blazing just like you do in Halo.

The way the BF2 aircraft handled was perfect. It meant you had to learn to use them and practice it in order to become good. In BF2142 any person can buy the game and be good at flying the first time they try it. This isn't a good thing. I'd rather have patience and skill rewarded than have this no skill required stuff going on.
