3ds rendered background. Attached are two versions, one for standard monitors, another for wide screen. Resolutions are 1600*1200 and 1920*1200, if you need larger let me know. Thanks to vinx for a few ideas, and I hope all enjoy.
Example of a (modified for myself of course) version in action on my desktop:

That's pretty cool. I like the 3d effect. Nice work, Rip.

its not an effect, its 100% 3D can rotate the objects or rotate around them, morph them, anything I want basically. I have a 20some odd MB animation I finally finished rendering earlier this evening, might put it up sometime.

Very interesting Rip. How long does it take you're machine to render the 3D into pictures?

Nice perspective usage- the 3D, is cool but I think a good bit more could be done to the image and with the image.

Also was it Maya, C4D, Blender, 3DsMax, or one I haven't heard of?

3ds max 8, those images are pretty easy on the system, a few minutes for the render. The animation turned out meh, it's allright. It clocked in at 650 frames an about 10 hours, I just can only run so many 10 hour renders before getting tired of it haha. I just wanted to keep it very simple, decided to stay away from volumetric lighting and the # of objects low. A lot of very annoying materials, mostly on the lettering (I didn't feel like setting up a full environment to do real reflection either, so reflection maps it was), so the flat surfaces don't look retarded. Curved 3d text that reflects and shines nicely is a real pain to do, but I think it came out pretty well. I love 3ds, but I run out of creative steam and like a minimalistic look for my backgrounds, it makes the content on the desktop much easier to work with. Sexy but smooth, as soon as more stuff gets added it starts to become cluttered (you can even see it a bit with the image I linked, partially because I have things that run over the desktop as well.
