Default CPL Changes Winter Event Dates
For the past week the CPL has been receiving complaints from registrants of the CPL 2006 Championship Finals that while attempting to make room reservations at the Hyatt Regency hotel, they are being told that the block has been sold out and they could not book additional rooms.
After meeting with the management of the Hyatt, the CPL became aware that the CPL block of rooms is in fact full, and that the entire hotel is also full because of a second large group the Hyatt booked during the CPL event.
Due to the overwhelming interest in the CPL Championship Finals and after discussions with its primary sponsors, the CPL has decided to move the dates of the event forward by a few days and block the rooms for the entire hotel.
Therefore, the CPL 2006 Championship Finals will now take place from Saturday, December 16 to Wednesday, December 20, 2006 at the Hyatt Regency hotel in downtown Dallas.
Many potential attendees have also complained that the previous dates conflicted with their college finals. This change allows those gamers to attend the event after completing their final examinations.
Additionally, the Hyatt has agreed to reduce the hotel room rate from $89.00 per night to only $75.00 for single, double, triple, or quadruple occupancy. Saving our attendees $70 over an average five-night stay.
The CPL and the Hyatt are working with American Airlines, the official airline of the CPL, to ensure that players and attendees are not inconvenienced due to this change and can adjust their travel arrangements with as little trouble as possible.
For those that have already booked rooms at the Hyatt, the dates will be automatically adjusted and an agent from the Hyatt's reservation department will be contacting every person to confirm the date change.
For those that have not booked rooms at the Hyatt the CPL recommends to reserve rooms quickly.
Recommended arrival date: Friday, Dec 15, 2006
Recommended departure date: Thursday, Dec 21, 2006

Because the new events dates now allow college students to attend the CPL winter event, AMD and ATI are offering an additional 500 free spectator passes at

The previous 1,000 passes were all taken in about three weeks. If you have already reserved a free pass you do not need to reapply as all event passes for all categories have now been updated to the new dates.
