Doom coming to Xbox Live Arcade

As you read this the original Doom, that's right the original DOOM should be available for download on Xbox Live Arcade for 800 points.

Don't freak if it isn't there when you check, Microsoft said they weren't sure if it would be up during or right after their X06 press conference today. But it will be today.

The game includes both single-player and two-to-four player co-op and deathmatch modes over Xbox Live.

The game will support teh deathmatch and coop play both on Live and in four-player split screen mode. I think I just wet myself.

Microsoft also announced that Codemasters will be bringing the classic 1994 Amiga game Sensible World of Soccer to Live. Brian Crecente

The hey game includes the original four-episode, single-player game, four-player split screen (cooperative and deathmatch) and four-player cooperative and deathmatch over Xbox Live. Also coming to Xbox Live Arcade soon is "Sensible World of Soccer" from Codemasters. Based on the classic 1994 Amiga title, "Sensible World of Soccer" will let gamers choose between the original graphics or an updated, high-resolution look and feel -- while still capturing the original's entire world of football.

I still remember playing Doom co-op and deathmatch through null-modem link back in '95 or so, and I can't wait to have some with the BFG and shotty online ;)

I downloaded this, F.E.A.R., and the Lego Star Wars demo. I tested Doom out, just to see how close it was to the original. Played the F.E.A.R. demo twice through, and couldn't complete the Lego demo.

It's the first time I remember playing it, I might have played some cheap knock-off in an arcade once, but that would be years and years ago.

Have anyone tried deathmatch on Live? If so, how is the lag? Seems like lag is a common problem for most of the Live Arcade titles, and it would be a shame if Doom gets b0rked due to crappy netcode.

Its ok, if you already own the Doom3 teh "special edition" you get the original doom on there.

Its alright, not nearly as fun as it was when it first came out, but I'm amazed at how many secrets I remember from playing it

DJ, if the monsters are starting to respawn, you aren't running fast enough ;)
You don't wanna wait around too long, just pick the shortest map (E1M1) and try to run as fast as you can, and pick up a couple of health packs on the way.

I haven't done this myself yet, I've played some co-op instead.

haha well they respawn to fast and with a co op partner everybody loves not to play nightmare so that doesnt help :|

I don't think you can unlock achievements in co-op anyways, else it would be rather simple to get the episode-achievements.

Right, you can't. There are two online achievements, but they are for getting 50 and 100 kills.

I think I finally found my reason to buy a 360 :D haha. I love Doom, you don't even understand. My favorite in the series would have to be Doom2 though, I have to admit :p When Doom3 came out for Xbox with ultimate doom and doom2 I was excited I think I bought it more so I could have the classic games on my Box. :p haha.

We used to play MAP01 (with deathmatch 2.0 settings) for hours and hours back in the days, and the double-barrelled shotgun packs such a punch that it will put a huge f**king grin on your face (unless you're at the wrong end of one).
Oh, and Doom 3 was utter garbage. :p

Doom has to be one of my favorite shooters as well. It was actually one of the first shooters I ever played. The last time I played this was back on the 32X (yes, I actually bought that), so it definately has been a while.

I hope they release Doom 2 on Live eventually too. We need more good Doom. :)
