I haven't read that article, but I read one that was posted in a forum for an MMO that I used to play, earlier today. What's weird is that it was actually one of the games that was bundled with the system. Not only the game, but the cardboard box itself for the game is what was worth so much. I read something like: collectors think that there are only ten complete copies in existence.
Pretty crazy, right?

Yeah that was a pretty cool article to. She had absolutely NO clue that it was even worth that much....And the cardboard for that matter is where all the worth is...Jeeez :P Pretty cool though

My favorite element of the entire article is the sellers incredibly silly ebay user name. I wonder if she had been blessed with some sort of premonition powers she would have chosen something other than "lace_thongs35".

lace_thongs? lmao
wow, are they really worth that much? The console not the lace thongs, lol. I could have been an owner of one a few years back. I asked my best friend, who bought it at a pawn shop for 15 bucks, if I could buy it off her. She had Super Mario Bros, and I so love that game and wanted it, but she gave it to her aunt's son for free:(
Oh well. I wonder how she would feel if I told her someone sold it for that price:O Again, wow!

Definitely have one, mint, in my closet. I hang onto all of my old gaming stuff. :) I just can't let it go :(
"Why? Not the console itself, but one of the games bundled with it -- a deeply obscure 1987 release called Stadium Events, a highly sought-after collectors' item."
That is the reason it sold for so much, btw. Read the article next time, don't tl;dr. :P
