An entire book section. This is awesome! Now if I want to know whether or not I should read a book I'll come here first and ask around. If people say "nay" then I'll know to stay away instead of wasting my time on a crappy book.

All books are crappy xP
Haha, but no, not really, there are some good ones out there, but most of the time I hate reading. Won't ruin the fun for you guys though ;) might even get involved some.

Yay for reading!
@Night Adversary - Maybe you just haven't found a book that you like yet? What kind of genre of movies do you usually like? I find books are always better than their movie counterparts - with less special effects. Sometimes it's better to use your own imagination for those things though.

I agree with bunnywink. :D But sometimes I like to see the movies to put a face to the characters. I always give them the weirdest faces in my head. Haha.
Anybody recommend anything?

This is true. They are better, as you can put more words than a picture would. Plus, movies have to be so long per scene, and it doesn't give you the entire picture as a book would. On the other hand, you don't get to see/hear anything.
But this is the same kinda comparison if you compare anime to manga (japanese comic). Any sorta book to video is far different.
Anyways, I haven't read a book in so many years. Too hard to choose what I'd like to do in life; and right now in my entertainment life, I just want to play games all the time haha If it's not that, I end up watching tv series/movies instead.
I will say, though, that my all-time favorite series that I read would be most of the Raymond E. Feist books; mainly, the Riftwar Saga series. His books are awesome! Full of adventure, sword-action, magic, fantasy, romance; it's got everything you can think of. It really has that role-playing feel in a lovable story. And there's a big war in the story, too. Really, it's the characters that bring the story to life.

bunnywink, reading is usually just a pain to me, but I do enjoy those few, like the Chronicles or Narnia series, Lord of the Rings, and a few others, they have to really get my interest, otherwise it can be a chore to me.

I love Neil Gaiman. Stardust. ♡ Also, I managed to get my hands on the limited print of Snow, Glass, Apples but I ended up giving it to a friend who was a huge fan. That was such a creepy twist on Snow White though!

Seems like you like the more epic novels... The series types! Have you read the His Dark Materials trilogy (The Golden Compass, The Subtle Knife, and The Amber Spyglass)? If you liked The Chronicles of Narnia, you might like that. You might also like A Song of Ice and Fire (A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, and A Feast for Crows). *____*
Yeah, I can understand reading can be so time consuming though.

I am reading the official biography of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother...I just finished Alison Weir's book about the War of the Roses. I love history and historical fiction. I have liked most of Phillipa Gregory's books (The Other Boleyn Girl)

Hmm. I don't think I've ever heard of Snow, Glass, Apples. I prefer his short stories and the Sandman series. I've only got until the 4th one in the series and I can't wait to buy the following ones! They're a bit expensive for my taste so I ask them from other people as gifts. Haha.

I know some of you like reading and all, but for those that don't have time or hate reading, ever heard of the site called audible.com?
It's basically audio books you can download, and they're actual real voice actors that really put a lot of drama into the voice acting. They even try to use different accents, for certain fictional characters. I haven't used it, but I heard it's realy popular.
There is a subscription fee, but if you're really into these audio books, it's probably not too bad.

We used to use something like that, my sister and I used to listen to stories in the car, there were voice actors who did a pretty good job, only it was on tape ;)

I love Dean Koontz and the Odd Thomas books. I actually named my cat Odd because he's got to be my favorite book character of any book series.

The Other Boleyn Girl... I saw the movie and it was weird. Didn't care for the movie at all. But I'm sure the book is good.

Murakami, Murakami, Murakami! If you haven't read anything of Haruki Marukami and fancy yourself as someone who enjoys literature, stop reading my post and skedaddle to the bookstore and pick something up by him. Now.
No Exit by Jean Paul Sartre is my favorite book(play) of all time. I'm a fan of Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash. There is a movie called Pontypool that is loosely inspired by this book and is delightfully scary. Also I recommend David Sedaris, this guy is hilarious. Poe is always a fave.
Happy Reading.
P.S. To those who mentioned love of Battle Royale I love you guys. ^^

I've seen it in the stores, and walked by it, and thought about it, but never really picked it up yet.. is it engaging? like did you get into it within the first chapter?

Recently finished Stieg Larsson's "The girl with the dragon tattoo" and would recommend for people who want a quick crime novel to read.
There's some graphic content, so not for the light of heart... to give you an idea what I mean, the translated Swedish title is "Men who hate women". The protagonist is female and bad-ass, so it makes up for it.

Has anyone ever found a book series they like, and dread that it will get turned into a movie or tv show? I finished reading a series over the summer when the 3rd book was released, and I worry that if the series gets into the wrong hands, its going to be disastrous. i.e. twilight.
Woah we have a book section? o.0
I love reading! But sadly I pretty much chew through a book once I start (fiction novels anyway). Regardless of the length novels don't really last more than 2 days around here. Which is a problem because i don't seem to get much else done for those 2 days lol.
Big Clancy fan here, and ken follett. My mom actually works part time at the library so....novels do on occasion come home :p

The Hunger Games trilogy is pretty good and I want it to turn into a movie. I'm not worried that it will be disastrous. If you've read the books I think you would agree it would be hard to ruin it.
The only thing I'm worried about is them NOT changing the 3rd book. The 3rd book is not so popular and I wasn't to excited while reading it. I was disappointed and the majority of my book club agreed.
