Piercings??

Okay I was thinking about getting some piercings I had in mind snake bites and navel project or what ever. My friends say that looks whorish lol. What do ya'll think?

Snake bites are pretty cool. Been seeing them a lot lately.
As for the navel, some are cool some aren't intricate multiple navel piercings can look nice though...

I don't think snake bites are whorish at all. More of "scene" to me.

Not sure what a "navel project" is, unless that's just fancy for bellybutton piercing? in that case, that's not whorish either. Maybe if you show it off 24/7 it could be seen as whorish but it wouldn't be the piercing, it'd be you ha :p

yes but the great things about piercing yourself is that you can take them out. not the same with tattoos.(i regret a few of mine)
i got snakebites about 3 years ago and recently took them out because so many people had them.

but do it for the right reasons not to fit in with a crowd because those things don't matter.


Only thing id worry about, would be it becoming cliche, like the lower back tattoos, arm bands, etc.

When it comes to body art, trend doesn't apply. If you're getting what you really want, when the trend dies- you'll still have your style. No matter what you do, someone is going to see and like what you have and initially want/get the same thing.

I got my belly button pierced when I was 16. I still have it, but I haven't worn jewelry in it for almost 3 years.

I got my eye brow pierced on a whim one day. I loooved it! But I kept getting it caught on my shirts while getting dressed/undressed and it ended up getting infected so I took it out. Plus, it was a hassle trying to cover it at work. I'm pretty sure I could get away with it now....but if I end up working on an ambulance, there's no way :(

But I agree, do it cause you want to. There's prolly always someone out there who's gonna say a piercing or tatt is cliche, but eh. If it's what you want, then that's the most important thing :)

The only thing I would worry about is getting a job cause a lot of places are strict about body art. :D
I had my lip pierced and I had to take it out at my old job and it closed.

I want snake bites but I would be worried about them getting infected. I had plugs but I was horrible at cleaning them. I think I am going to try again with the plugs.

I'd say yes for the snake bites, they look really cool. Though be careful if your piercings get infected really easily

I've always found piercings really unattractive. But don't shy away, there are many who think they are.

I love piercings. I've only got 9 right now, 3 in each earlobe, left tragus (going to get right done at some point), tongue and belly button. You really can't get something just because someone tells you to. Do what you feel is right for you. But make sure you do your research FIRST. Don't get a piercing and then go "hmm maybe I should look up the care and side effects and chances of rejection and infection." I had 3 holes in my belly button and then one got rejected so I took the second one out, too, because, due to the locations, it looked silly with two.

On a little bit of a side-note, this may be my favorite piercing ever, but I'd never have the guts to do it. It's called a corset piercing (for obvious reason) and I've seen it done nicely down arms as well. Unfortunately they do not last very long. A couple weeks at the most.

Corset piercings are terrible but so beautiful.
They're normally done for trade shows and the girls that get them done either have alot of money or are dating someone in the industry to get them for free.
They have an extremely high rejection rate and are usually taken out within a few days.

Omg yea like the corset piercing like it's awesome but I'll never want to get it done. My friend has it and I was there when she got it done(eww) lol. Anyway yea I think I'm going to get the snake bites because they don't take that long to heal. The navel piercing takes about 6 months and that's a little too long for me. So once I get 'em done I'll be sure to post some pictures of them. I might post 'em when I get my hair cut and highlighted! Thanks everyone!

Yeah, definitely do what you want to do. I have 12 piercings right now, and love every single one of them today. I actually got my first tattoo during the holidays, and considering it's the kanji for cow/ox/beef, style and trends weren't on my list! ^_^

But I can't wait to see pictures of what you get!

You get what you are comfortable with getting. I recently had my nose pierced (but had to take it out because of a job, which didn't work out & made me angry because it grew up within a day) and I've had my eyebrow done. I like both of them. My fiancee has his eyebrow done.

Whatever you think you should get, and you would feel comfortable with it, then go for it. Nobody else has any say in what goes on your body, because it's just that. YOUR body.

I went through a phase last year when I turned 30. I got into piercing. I got my boobs done along with some other body parts. It was my personal decision, I called it putting the lid back on the bottle after having my babies. I am still happy with my decisions and I look at it as an enhancement. But it does have to be your own decision, you can't let people make that one for you.

ive had many done and all i can say is do what makes you happy, if your trying for something different pick ones you dont see often

and if your worried about a job they make clear studs that can be used and are almost invisible

Don't base your decision off of what other people think. If you want piercings, get them! But if you think it looks "whorish", then don't get them. It's all a matter of how you feel. Just be sure that if you get them it's all because you truly want them, and not to follow a trend.

Having that said, I just have my ears pierced. I had my cartilage pierced on one of my ears at one point, but my skin is very sensitive and still got infected, despite the fact that I cleaned it a bazillion times a day. I've considered getting a cute little stud in my nose, but I work at a bank, and that's not allowed. So there goes that idea. :p

Navel does take a long time, and the healing process is just a huge pain. Honestly, my tongue healed in a matter of weeks and I had not one problem with it. That's always a safe piercing to go with, especially if you need to be able to hide it sometimes. I've had mine for 2 years now and half my family doesn't know about it.
