Hey guys... i am considering switching to Mac from Win 7. I have a laptop now with 3gb of 533mhz ddr2 memory with a 2.4ghz Intel core 2 duo. Im wondering how much of a gain i will get by switching to a MacBook Pro with 4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM and the same model processor but instead of a 2.4 its a 2.53. Im just wondering if its worth me switching at the moment. Also i would be going from a 15.4 inch screen to a 13.3. Im in college and thats the reason for the screen size drop. Just really dont have room for the bulky pc right now. I just wanted some opinions on this cause i am torn right now between the two options. O and if anybody has made the switch down in screen size and regretted it i would especially love to hear that.

Well, hmm lets see. Not really gonna notice those 2in gone from the screen.
EDIT: You can even go as far as saying the quality of the screen will be equal if not BETTER than your 15.4
As far as the processor goes, for the most part all you're getting more is a larger L2 cache from 3MB(2.4) to 6MB(2.53)
Not really gonna notice that much of a difference in performance unless you're into benchmarking and whatnot.

not really worth it. Macs to me are just fashion statments they really have no asthetic value in comparison to PCs these days, especially ones running windows 7.

I would highly recommend getting a mac if you are in the graphic design industry, simply because adobe creative suite is so much quicker and more fine tuned than its windows counterpart.
Also the ilife and iwork suites are brilliant! I think you buy a mac for quality of the OS. Snow leopard is brilliant!
get a mac :)

Thanks for the input guys. Im just going to save up and build a custom desktop PC built around a 920 i7 core :) Cost bout the same and ill blow the laptop out of the water in performance.
