Avatar. Who else saw this in 3d? I thought it was the most amazing, beautiful, real, epic movie I have ever seen. 3d is a must. It was absolutely extraordinary....and now I know why they said it was supposed to revolutionize a new era of movies, and CGI, considering how many years it took to produce and make. The last 40 minutes alone was worth everything you paid for.

I truly hope this movie gets all the awards and credit it deserves..this could very well be one of my favorite movies of all time...and that's A LOT for me to say.

i dont know... i dont buy the plot that those blue thundercats can even fight people in mechassault suits or "stolen" halo hornets... i didnt even buy it when the ewoks somehow defeated the Empire with a bunch of rocks and 1 stolen AT-ST vs much more. i might check it out though just for that 3D though. i liked how Ice age 3 looked so im guessing this has to look better with an obviously bigger budget.

I took my son H2O Psycho to see in as an imax 3d experience. The movie is beautiful. Definitely a must see in 3d. I'm actually heading out to see it again with some of my friends. It was truly a special effect marvel. could not tell what was real or cgi at times

well i just got back from seeing it again. I think that is the first time that i have seen the same movie twice in one night. I think the world Cameron created is what made me enjoy so much. He truly made Pandora a paradise.

I respectfully disagree. I guess I really liked this movie because I really appreciated the little things, aside from the new technique of cgi, like the details of the story, the storyline itself, how everything was thought out, and how effing epic the music was.

I loved the movie, and there aren't even words to describe how great it was. It definitely set the bar high for any future movie. There was a "mini" love scene, but I would barely call it that, nothing really happened.

A bunch of my co-workers went and a ticket was given to me by someone who couldn't make it. I did NOT want to see it. But it wasn't all that bad. I liked the fact that its in 3D but not full of things flying at your face, ya know? If you do have ANY desire to see it, see it in theaters, and see it in 3D. Otherwise, its a so so story that's really shiny.

Meh, it was ok. Stupid marines obviously haven't watched star wars. If they had, they would have known that indigenous tribes are capable of taking down advanced technology.

Ewok is to AT-ST as Na'vi are to airships.

Yes, I don't actually think that Star Wars existed in the Avatar-film reality.

Although the movie just being "meh" is not a joke. It really was Pocahontas meets Star Wars.

no no i meant that the blue people or the ewoks are superior to technology... if you said it jokingly i agree cause i really doubt it they could. if not, then i dont know what to say.

but i agree with the pocahontas meets star wars thing though.

PMS Strawberry

I respectfully disagree about Pocahontas meeting Star Wars. You are missing the main character and the story. It's about achieving the outcome of such a combination of biology and technology. The separation of what is real and what we think is real.

Lol yeah if you think about it the characters do remind you of the two. But if you're talking about the movie itself: Just because Pocahontas & the Na'vi fall under the same category of Natives, and Star Wars & The military in Avatar fall under the same category of advanced military strategists, doesn't mean that that was incorporated in the movie's storyline. That's like me saying an apple and an orange must grow from the same tree, because they are both fruits. If that's what someone actually thought of the movie, then I personally think they either didn't pay much attention to it, or just didn't get it. Sorry
....peace and love just voicing my opinion.

@strawberry -

I'm not denying there was some originality in the movie, but the story itself was about a stranger who comes to a new land, falls in love with a foreign girl, and turns on his own people to protect them. For me at least, there was no surprise, no plot twists, nothing to make the story line original.

Things like the biological interaction with the environment were interesting, the characters themselves were believable, and by no means am I saying it's a bad movie, it just, in my opinion, not an original plot.

I agree that the storyline was predictable...I mean James Cameron wrote it...and that's not really his strong point. Although he did a good job with Terminator...that's about it. But if you can get me through 2 1/2 hours without looking at my watch once...that's pretty impressive. The CGI is what made this film amazing...and I loved every second of it. :)

Yes the movie was great, I don't think it was worth the 300million put into it. Yet it did gross over 1billion. The movie is just great, the ending was predictable and the movie used a lot of foreshadowing. The movement and details of this CGI was great.

I swear if I heard "I see you." one more time I was going to toss my soda at something.

Just got back from seeing it for the first time, should also note it was in 3D.

The movie wasn't that bad. It kind of played to all my favorite aspects of a movie. I've always been a sucker for romantic films, I'll dazzle in chick flicks from time to time... and as a human with a Y chromosome, I also fancy war scenes and action movies. So it kept me entertained and into the movie for the entire 2.5 hours.

The plot, while very predictable, was well thought out. There were so many different aspects to this story line that made this movie pretty good. The difference between two races, the struggle to find ones belonging, the choices between diplomacy and war, respecting other's sovereignty and the good old "manifest destiny" ideology, distinguishing between reality and fantasy, deciding what is the "right thing to do"... I dunno I could go on forever.

I liked it, but then again I love movies and so for me to not love this it would have to be boring as all hell. I was never hyped about this movie, in fact I had never heard of it prior to reading about it here. I don't watch much TV, so I must have missed the advertising for it. So I went into it thinking it was just another movie. I didn't have that "let down" feeling that some of you had since I had not acquired expectations for it.

Long story short: it was good.

I have to admit, this was by far the best movie I have ever seen. Watching it in 3d metaphorically flew you into this new world of fascination that I didn't think was possible. Pandora was unique and mystifying. Everything reacted and communicated with each other as everything in all is one. Never thought I'd root against the humans, but we do screw a lot of **** up, some of us anyways.
