I know our mums, dads, guardians so on have been telling us to eat our spinach for ages...well this time kids can tell their parents it can actually KILL them if they do.
Anyway, I'm sure a few of you may have seen this put I'm posting this for those who haven't and Popeye the sailor man who is probably in denial right now:
E. Coli Probe Focuses on 9 Farms (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/09/19/AR2006091901641.html)
Apparently, health officials believe the tainted spinach steams from California farms. A few people are getting lawyers, and a good percentage of people affected are woman out of the 131 or so cases in 21 states.
Spinach everywhere is being pulled, and farmers have no idea when they'll be allowed to replant more. So if you see fresh spinach anywhere, please inform them about what's going on and that they'll need to remove it immediately.
Hope you all stay safe!

A break in the investigation: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14926963/
I guess they found tainted spinach in a package of Dole baby brand spinach and Dole comes from Cali and this will help them a little more in actually figuring out where all this yucky e-coli spinach is coming from.
Meanwhile 146 people have now been affected in 23 states.

Yeah I work in a grocery store [Krogers, also same company as Frys, etc] so we posted a sign pretty much everywhere throughout the store about a week or more ago. Sucks because the day before I ate spinach, I was scared =X
But yeah I feel sorry for the people affected :[

thanks for posting! i've heard about it, but didn't know all of those details. From the story i heard, ONE person got affected. so now i realize it's more serious than that. No spinach for me! i'll stick to romaine :)

Jeeze, this is the first case of a death because of this: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14953287/
A little 2 year old boy died in Idaho after eating packaged spinach as well as an 86 year old woman in Maryland(although hers hasn't been confirmed yet).
...please guys tell your friends and tell them to tell their friends.
My fiancé has a few relatives in Ohio and Virginia and we made sure that they knew too. Tell everyone that you can about this. Maybe put a bulletin on myspace too.
I don't know how long it's going to take before they figure out how to stop this, so please take care of everyone around you and even the people you don't know.

My family ate bagged spinach, before I had the chance to tell them what is going on. I was doing my online thing got up and found they had ate it. I didn't realize we had it until they ate it. That was 2 days ago, and they are fine. Thankfully we got a bag of good spinach and they are all ok. At least I hope they are.
