"Steam, Heart, and the Heat of Regret"
Stepping out of the shower,
Steam filling the air
Fogging the mirror
So that when I look its way
I don't have to see my reflection standing there,
The air, intoxicatingly warm
Creating a bitter-sweet kiss,
Where I am so alone and cold within
It seems a mockery to feel warm again
To cheapen that long-lost bliss,
But the strangest hope filled my sight
to the shades I looked, and saw a glimmer of light
to see and to touch what forsake me so much
to feel as though it welcomed me back with tender embrace
And to see despite the steam that I can be warm again inside the light
Out with the dark, out with the cold
And let glimmers of hope shine on me until I'm old.
Stepping out of the shower,
Steam filling the air
Fogging the mirror
So that when I look its way
I don't have to see my reflection standing there,
The air, intoxicatingly warm
Creating a bitter-sweet kiss,
Where I am so alone and cold within
It seems a mockery to feel warm again
To cheapen that long-lost bliss,
But the strangest hope filled my sight
to the shades I looked, and saw a glimmer of light
to see and to touch what forsake me so much
to feel as though it welcomed me back with tender embrace
And to see despite the steam that I can be warm again inside the light
Out with the dark, out with the cold
And let glimmers of hope shine on me until I'm old.
