I have to express my annoyance for this and i wanna see what you all think.
I was just reading up on some gaming news and discovered that God of War III will have a super awesome really expensive collectors edition that basically comes with a bunch of useless crap for like... oh probably 30 dollars more. MW2 is doing this and you get night vision goggles (probably 10 dollar ones from walmart that are not even close to what they really use in the military) and of course we have all seen the legendary edition of halo 3. these are just a few examples of these outrageous special editions... in games. I also see almost ever movie that comes out these days (i used to work at an entertainment store) has these 10 dollar more dvd special editions of the movie that have like.... oh.... 5 minutes of extra footage.
Now the games really annoy me because they are just used as extra bull crap to make more money (cash in products). To me i think the only games that should have these ultra special collectors editions are the games that have already been labeled cult classics or huge games that have already been extremely successful over the years, which they should then release the special collectors edition 5 years down the line for the fans and have it contain things that are actually... useful. Not only do i think they would make these more worth our money but they would probably do better in sales (if of course the game is considered a cult classic). For example if they re-released FF7 "collectors edition" for ps1 and had a bunch of extra crap in it for 50 bucks... that would sell like crazy. I do have to say i was very impressed with the blazblue special edition for the simple fact that i have yet to see a version that wasnt the special edition and the special edition blazblue cost 60 dollars... the same price as a normal game such as the cheapest halo 3 (when it came out).
Now with the movies, if you have 5 minutes of footage you couldn't put in the theatrical version (which i think most of them could they just didnt for the obvious reason that they could put them in a +10 dollar special dvd) just put the extended version out alone! Dont even bother putting out a theatrical version... it just confuses alot of people. OR put them on the same dvd like Die Hard 4 did.
ok i had to blow off some steam, i could keep going but i think ive said enough atm lol, your thoughts?
