Ninja, they continually take the pulse of the community to find out which updates are wanted most. Remember they've only got, if i remember correctly, 4MB of Flash memory to work with so I'm hugely impressed with what they can accomplish with that.
Please keep us updated GibGirl, you know we love to hear the news stuffs (and if you need any help testing out the new dashboard after I get the vista RC1 in ;) )
I think i may cry if they implement cross-fade between songs.

Vandal, its bland because it needs to be kept to a small size, your fancy 3d origional xbox dashboard took up a couple hundred megs on the hard drive, they don't have the space to work with now since it needs to be designed to work with the core systems as well, pictures maybe, animations i don't know if they'll have those in.

Mostly cosmetic changes from those screenshots, but they are cool cosmetic changes.

Word on the street is those images are fake(photoshopped) and that site has posted fake news before for publicity, so I would take that with a grain of salt. Being that the guy wrote at the end of the article "Now this is REAL news ; )" I would say it's b.s.

Considering this thread was made by someone who has direct knowledge of the workings of Xbox live, and quite probably is already working with test boxes on the update, I would say the info is most likely valid :p
Unless she suddenly decided sending us on a wild goose chase was fun, but since it isn't the first of april I think we're safe ;)

My most major concern with the dashboard as of today, is the Marketplace. That place is getting really messy, and it can be hard to find what you're looking for if it's not in the "Newly released" sections.

Wow only 4MB of flash memory? I always assumed the Dashboard ran off the HD, but I never thought about core compatability. What took up 8GB of the hard drive out of the box then?

Back compat, Hexic, a couple of videos, some firmware that makes the HD work w/ the 360, and some other stuff that is eluding my memory right now.

they prolly clarified that the news is real, because of the news flop the other evening that was supposed to be huge, but wound up only being about the Wii shipping their chips.

It needs to be "New to me" as in if I've looked at it in the list, its not new.

To many things are kept on the new release list by trickling out game Traliers and new thmese (cough*Graw*cough) - it makes it hard to find things. I'd also like to see a new category for new content -

Finally - the multiple video sizes double the cluter as well - just pick one - its a trailer and HD space is limited - 480 will do.

Actually that stuff is on there - but if you delete it all - you free up the space.

The 7 GB a system reserve area that is mostly a cache to ensure if present there is enough HD sapce to run the games. - although there must be more than that - 8 GB seems like a lot.

Hehe, looks like I'm seen as a good authority on these sorts of things. :)

Yep! You always give solid info and great insights into gaming. I asume with the lay out changes they are attempting to address the marketplace clutter problem - any other tidbits you can share would be welcome!
