The Question alot of people have been asking even I'm asking "Will There Be A Playstation 4 or Xbox whatever they name it coming in three to six years?"

In my mind, I'm thinking Sony and Microsoft could team up and do the OnLive gaming thing. That would end the little so call war against PS3 and Xbox360, I guess.

To Me OnLive could really be the future of gaming. I not going buy it when it come out because there always issues when something new come out.

i don't want sony and microsoft to partner up cause then we'll get crappy stuff and i believe competition always makes things better

but that onlive thing looks cool but its pretty expensive so ill wait until the price drop the thing and yeah your right it might have a problem like ..... ahem ... RROD2 lol

I just get tired of everybody saying what console is better.
OnLive could change all that.

Did you hear about HD Glass?

agree with greeper that u never see ps3 with xbox. ps3 will be here for about 10year and some. now ps3 is only use 10% of it power and it will be around for some time and onlive is not good in my eyes it because i went to feel my videogames case after i buy the game and not on harddrive.

They don't have to merge to make a game cross-platform online. I think Cross-Platforming games is an incredible idea. You're connecting gamers from all over to world on all different consoles. It would be the ultimate online experience.
Final Fantasy XI is cross platform, all PS2, PC, and XboX players are playing on the same servers.

In the future, Microsoft will make a system that DOESN'T fail........I hope :p

There's seriously so much to learn from "next-gen" mistakes, I'd be VERY disappointed if the "next, next-gen" was anything less than above the current gen.

Besides, companies merging together would create an monopoly, which, if I'm not mistaken, is illegal. Don't think you'd wanna pay over $1000 for a console with no choice if you wanna play a game.

10% ???

no body know how much hardware power the PS3 is using "only SONY" or maybe SONY themselves dont know how much Power the PS3 is using

but if it is 10% then damn i wonder how much is the XBOX is using !
all i'm saying is we wont know until it blows up in our faces lol

but if i have to guess .... i would say the PS3 is using 89% of its power .... see im guessing or i could be right :D only jesus knows lol

*just keep in mind*

PS3 is 2 years old
XBOX 360 is 3 years old

so what were seeing from both consoles is only the beginning ( so they say )

If you want to go buy the timeline of the PS2, the 360's halfway there....even though the PS2 is still selling, the successor came out six years after the PS2's launch, and since the Xbox 360 came out five years after the original Xbox........

then again, those are just my guesses.

IMHO it depends on what Apple does. If Apple gets in tight with nintendo than a sony +microsoft combo console is likely.

Apple has no exclusives like for example : metroid, mario, zelda,
gears, halo, killzone, gow, ratchet, infamous or even jack or sly.

Apple would join up-or rather partner/merge with nintendo leaving

BOTH sony and ms to settle over scraps...but a best of ps/xbox
battling nintendo and Apple would be far more interesting.

Remember it was sony being burned by nintendo that got them in and likewise ms got in because of sony therefore i expect Apple's arrival imminently.

This is all conjecture but if i were Apple i'd go after nintendo
they're most alike and what hardcore gamer wouldn't buy a
metroid, mario or zelda+with the Apple brand on a nintendo console it'd get people even more excited for their product line.

STRANGER THINGS HAVE HAPPENED.

.....I seriously think an MS/Sony partnership is even possible. Free online vs. paying for it.....cheap console vs. more expensive with blu-ray attached. Quantity vs. quality.......yea, not happenin'.

The idea is to run games in “the cloud” -- distant servers connected via the Internet -- and stream them to your television or personal computer with as much speed and power as if they were running locally. The service, which has been demonstrated publicly but so far only tested internally, is about to open up for a wider public beta trial next month, and scheduled to officially launch this winter.
This isn’t about downloading games; it’s about actually playing them on computers that might be as far as 1,000 miles away, counting on the Internet to deliver an experience indistinguishable from an Xbox or PlayStation.

PS3's IBM processor is only using 10%. its capable of so much more.

well at the e3 microsoft conference (or afterwards i forget), they talked about the life of the 360 and so far it looks like there are no plans for a new system until 10 or 9 years or so. the main reason they said this is because of the economy and they dont want something like the atari fiasco. kind of a smart move, and since natal is coming out, it be kinda dumb that after it comes out, it will only live like a year on the 360 and then a new console comes out. dont know what sony and nintendo plans but i think its along the same lines. (though i think nintendo should be focusing on getting quality games on their console again instead of endless mini-game "wii-bage")

Well the competition should be between dev teams/who can make the best game not sony vs ms vs nintendo if dvd were like this you'd have each studio release their own player and disc's
fortunately that industry has a standard.

If apple joins nintendo in the next round i can see ms and sony
joining to fight a common enemy APPLE.

The best would be if everyone sat down and decided what they wanted from the next gen and nintendo was the bare bones
version while ms was substantially more robust and sony being a
tech company was the lexus ultra high end.

This would require live and psn to become seamless and hopefully friend codes would die of course backwards compatibility for 3 systems would be really hard.

The my console is better than yours would end as the ONLY
thing that matters are the games and whether gears, god of war or metroid there are great games on all 3 systems which
requires you to either have all 3 or be willing to miss out on
aaa games like killzone 2,halo 3 or zelda. I don't know about
you but i'd rather own 1 system and get 100% of the aaa
games than need 3 which each has less than 30% aaa games.

We'd save over $1000 just getting 1 system and set of accessorys's that could be turned back in to getting even more games. WIN/WIN for everyone.
