Ok so I have a problem im trying to run WOW and my computer is 2 old lol. What would be the fastest and cheapest way for me to be able to run it. I can play but when I get to a city where there is a lot of people i LAGGGGG horribly to where I couldn't even turn. I heard that adding RAM might help but like idk if thats all i would need?

Yeah, for sure get a RAM upgrade, 248Mb is kind of sad :P

... another (but more pricey) way to go would to upgrade your video card as well. 'course here I go acting like I even know what the system requirements are for WoW - but no matter, get a RAM upgrade STAT!

Well, seeing as how you've got a Pentium 4 CPU I'm going to assume you could use either DDR or DDR2 memory to upgrade your computer but you'd have to read the manual for your motherboard to be absolutely sure.

Either way, you can get a decent amount of RAM for under 100$ nowadays.

ie.

2Gb Ultra DRR-400 - 69.99$ (before taxes and shipping) (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1491882&CatId=1838)

or

2Gb Corsair DDR2-800 - 26.99$ (before taxes and shipping) (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2206874&CatId=2261)

Personally, I don't understand how old tech DDR memory is so much more expensive than semi-current tech DDR2... but that'll only affect you depending on what type your motherboard supports.

... 'course, now I'll ask the question I should've asked in the beginning - is it a laptop?

EDIT: However, if a RAM upgrade doesn't fix your lag issues then I'd suggest looking into getting (or upgrading) your video card.

No its not a laptop, and I found this website,

http://www.crucial.com/upgrade/compatible-memory-for/HP+-+Compaq/Presario+6330US/list.html

Do you think I would be able to get any of this stuff at bestbuy? and which one should i get I have like 50 dollars =)

After taking a quick look at the Bestbuy website, I have no doubts that you'd be able to find some RAM there the only thing is I don't know if it'll fit into your 50$ budget. My best suggestion would be to go there and take a look at what they offer before buying anything (and try to avoid falling into the salesman's trap)...

Also according to the Bestbuy website, the only brands they offer are PNY, Kingston and Corsair (which are still quality brands, but you had asked if they'd have any Crucial there.)

If need be, take the one (or two) sticks of RAM out of your tower before you go and take them with you to compare numbers. Most RAM nowadays have their specifications printed on a sticker that's more often than not visible through their packaging. So if your stick says PC-2100 DDR400 (or something along those lines) then you definetly don't want to get PC2-xxxx RAM.

Ok if that link you posted was your current computer then you can get 1gb of that ram at tigerdirect for about 40$ or about 70$ at bestbuy.

TigerDirect Link (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1558845&CatId=844)

Another way to save some money is goto Ebay and buy used equipment. Also, you may want to consider buying a barebones system for around 300 bucks new with a one year warranty. All you would need to buy for most of them is the harddrive, video card, and if you wanted non-onboard sound the sound card also. It is about the cheapest way to go to be honest if you are not up on all the self-installation of PC parts. The "hardest" part to install though would be the processor and processor fan. Last one of those I did was a dual core celeron, and man did that fan give me a hard time. It was the standard fan though, so that mighta been why.

Ram will def help do you happen to know the make of your graphics card. Thats always worth upgrading especially from what i can tell you are probably using an onboard GPU or a really old graphics card...so look into upgrading that..and get some more ram

upgrade the RAM since its the easiest. umm next thing in my opinion is the processor, a graphics card helps but only goes so far with any given processor. and drop intel. overcosts for such gear that could do so much better

ummm i built my computer from a new HP desktop which was a year old plus some newer parts so if u really need help i am at least one person u can go to. Yea Newegg.com or Tigerdirect.com is ur best bets but newegg is more user friendly if u dont know exactly wat u need or looking for.

fair warning tho, i dont go for cheap i go for above average equipment thats gonna last and is worth it in the long run unlike the cheap stuff that breaks after a few months or that expensive stuff that gets replaced a few months later just to have the price dropped anyway.
