Where are OUR tourneys?

Seriously now, Gamebattles was founded for the PS3 (Thanks to Socom), but ever since Microsoft decided to basically buy out everything, us PS3 owners get shafted. I really don't want to have to buy a 360 just to compete. Anyone else feel the way I do? Anyways hopefully I'll be playing with you guys and gals soon enough. Just applied for the Socom Confrontation division a couple of days ago.

I agree 100% with you I got tired of little 6 year olds on Gears of War rushing for the sniper and their moms telling them to go to bed... what's your PSN? I'm about to sell my 360 I cancelled my Live subscription yesterday.

um... wow. Just because someone isn't a "PRO" gamer, doesn't mean they're casual. I have a PS3 and I play it competitively, probably more so than most "PRO" gamers. You can still be a hardcore gamer and not have a pro division. I wish multi-platform games had a way to cross-connect online. Not to start a console war or anything, but I bet a lot of people would be surprised at the number of PS3 players on top.

Honestly, in my opinion, anyone who plays a game just to "go pro" isn't a true gamer. A true gamer is someone who's never heard of MLG, playing games since they can remember, spending countless time and money on their games.

PS3 = Hardcore, Not Casual. You find me a "Casual" gamer that is willing to spend $399 on a console. Great games like Uncharted, Resistance 1 and 2, Heavenly Sword, COD4, GTA4, GT5, RB2, GHWT, LBP, and MGS4. (oh and by the way, MGO and R2 have had MLG Tournaments.) These games are hardly for your average casual gamer.

Xbox = Hardcore. Great games including Gears 1 and 2, Halo 3, COD4, GTA4, PGR4, RB2, GHWT. Most of the "Pros" would get their asses whopped by a random 15 year old who's been playing video games since he/she was 6.

Wii = Casual.

Also the reason MLG doesn't have a PRO division for the PS3 was because a year ago the PS3 didn't have many active online users. Recent reports show they same amount of active PSN accounts as XBL accounts (both 17 million), so hopefully MLG is taking note. Especially with a game like KZ2 coming out.

So yeah. PS3 gamers are every bit as competitive as 360 games. Just because we don't have a "PRO" division doesn't mean we're casual. I consider myself to be a hardcore gamer and hearing someone who doesn't own the console call me a casual gamer is a bit insulting. Both consoles have their share of Hardcore, Casual, Older, Younger, Smart, Stupid gamers. What it boils down to in the end is what games, features, and quality of gaming you're looking for.

True HD Gaming = PS3
Best Online Experience = 360

Best Gaming Overall = PC :P lol

Definitely agree on all fronts, Korn. Great rant. I think all gamers should have a venue to play competitively on their respective platforms and I would love to have a cross platform gaming network where PC, Playstation and Xbox gamers can play games.

I'm in...even ran a ladder for Americas Army. But what we used was custom coded by one of the founders.

I didnt expect this many people to get into his like they did.... My PSN is jtour42013 or kissofdeath_ . Im actually in the recruitment phase of it all for Socom Confrontation now. Well not only that, all Sony cares about is taking over the living room and being on the bleeding edge of the entertainment sector. E-sports just isn't a high priority to them and honestly never has been and probably never will.

And the reason why Microsoft dishes it out like they do is because they want to be where the hardcore gamers are at, which is mostly the pro gaming scene as whole so you'll see them sponsor organizations like the WCG and MLG more often.

Sony on the other hand doesn't care if you're hardcore or casual, they just want you to have a blu-ray player so you can buy Sony Entertainment movies (in HD).

Honestly I don't see a reason to compare a 360 and PS3, without one the other would die. The gaming industry needs competition to live. If one company were to overtake the others then that single company can manipulate the cost of gaming, prices would go through the roof. Business in general thrives on competition.

I say eff fanboys. We're all gamers in the end. Sure some of us may enjoy plasma rifles and warthogs, and others may enjoy stealth camo and metal gears, but we're all gamers. *cue the cheesy dramatic music*

I agree about ps3 not having many tourneys.But the problem is their has been 2 different cash tourneys for socom on GB that nobody has really signed up for if people wanted to be really serious about getting the PS3 to where people would like it tournement wise more people need to start signing up for this kind of stuff. I dont know if people just dont want to spend the $12.99 to enter. I think if more people did these tourneys the more they will have the better it would be.:mvsmile:
