Hey just wondering if anyone would know what would be better for gaming laptops or desktops?.. also do you know a good computer to buy that is kinda cheap. I've looked at sites like walmart, bestbuy, dell and even Alienware.. but really I dont know what to get from all the selections and I really dont know much about the computers.. I just need a good one that will be able to play a computer game like wow/sims/second life anything like that. So if anyone can help leave me a message on here i'll check it in a bit.

desktops are best for gaming and all around usage.....try tiger direct or newegg...
build a computer, or get someone to build it for you, that way you have something more powerful than any shelf brands and you keep your pockets a little more stuffed =]

I'd Go With The HP One, But With Pieces Being Cheap Now And Days You Can Make A Beast Computer For 500$ Just To Let Ya Know, Buying Parts Is Always Cheaper Then Buying It Already Made Like That.

use www.ncix.com. the system builder or prebuilt pc's are awesome from there. if you cheap out and buy a pc from walmart, you're going to need a gfx card... which will run you anywhere from $90-$900 depending on what that pc requires/is capable of. also, keep in mind the standard today (someone correct me if i'm wrong) is at least a 2x2.4mhz processor/2048mb ram/256mb pci-e gfx card.

It has all the newest processers and graphic card. I am going to prolly get 2 500 gig harddrives...cuz i can haha. Ill post pics when I am done.

i lold :mvconfused:
"Standard" processing speeds vary by personal preference whether it be a 2.4ghz single core or a 2.0ghz dual core, they all perform well as long as the system as a whole works well together.
the 2gb ram is about right
graphics..again that's up to personal preference. Some will be perfectly content with a 128mb AGP card, while others will want dual 1gb PCI-E 16x's
The question Desktop vs Laptop...well that's all mobility. Desktops are a pain to lug around, where as laptops can quite literally be taken just about anywhere with ease. But i can get just as good performance out of a laptop as i can out of a "beast" desktop

even Alienware.. Customization is the way to alienation. The west coast customs are the best types of computers you buy parts you get someone to build it you're done with money to spare.

it all comes down to is how much u wanna spend on it, i spent around 3500 building my computer but than again i spent about 900 on the latest quad-core extreme processor. just know ur budget i built mine and i compared the price to alienware and alienware came out to be more exspensive and wasnt as good as the one i built. pretty much when u buy prebuilt computers ur just buying the name brand. go to newegg or tigerdirect they both have good prices and just select what u need/want and base it off that, if ur thinking about building one make sure u buy parts that fit ur motherboard... i kinda made the mistake of buying ram that didnt fit because i was clumsy and read it wrong :P
