I started listening right around the 20 minute mark that Diana was talking about and I didn't hear it. The Pittsburgh one was just local Pittsburgh sports talk. I tried the Phoenix one too and didn't hear it. I listened for at least a half an hour.

Ok, well here is a copy of the broadcast they just sent me! Another mistake they made was they said I play Halo all day, and was one of the best?? I haven't played Halo since last year, and my highest placement was 8th at CPL! Gotta love those researchers....

P.S. Look at all the notes I had for this, and I didn;t even get to use half! :(

NEW SPORT…(Electronic Sports) Games which are considered e-sports normally belong to the first-person shooter, real-time strategy, or sports game genres. They are played competitively at both amateur and professional levels. New genres coming up do to increased popularity in console (i.e racers, fighters). Sites like gotfrag.com

Though gaming doesn't take much physical prowess, it does demand incredible hand-eye coordination - arguably as much as golf and even tennis

There's big money in it, too.
First PRO event In 1997… Cyberathlete Professional League and founded by Angel Munoz, had a turnout of around 300 competitors for a single Quake tournament. Since then, the attendance and size of the venues for these events has grown greatly, and now thousands of spectators connect over the internet to watch the final matches. The prizes are also larger; in 2005, the CPL paid out a total of $1.5 mil in cash prizes. Major League Gaming received $10 million in funding earlier this year from Ritchie Capital.

Companies from Microsoft (our main sponsor) Verizon are currently teams of players and even venture capitalists are getting interested. Players are even getting salaries from team management groups like Team 3D which help the players focus on training on their games.

February 1, 2003 SK Gaming became one of the first cgroups in FPS gaming to legally bind players to their clan and set saleries. SK-Gaming also set another precedent regarding contracts. They were also one of the first FPS teams to receive a fee for a player transfer after rival team "NoA" bought Norwegian SK player Ola "elemeNt-" Moum out of his contract.

Television networks are getting interested, too. Broadcast of the events are planned across major networks like USA, Direct TV, and HDTV. Direct TV’s Championship Gaming Series was introduced this year, and it is expected to revolutionize gaming by bringing gaming to mainstream audience as in a very professional, entertaining and television friendly way. This is where there has come a lot more interest in gaming personalities as much as skill. You don;t have to be the best anymore to make a living playing as long as you have great personality and are media-friendly.

PLAYERS & $$$:
In top games, the best players can earn over $100,000 per year just in tournaments - and several times that in endorsement deals.

Jonathan “Fatla1ty” Wendel has been a pro for six years. In 2005, he won over $300,000 in tournament prize money alone. And who knows how much from the Fatal1ty brand, which offers gaming essentials like mouse, keyboards, and motherboards.

Team Final Boss earned a record 1 Million ($250k each) for their contract with MLG for playing Halo on Xbox.

Saleried players

I tryed to register at GotFrag, it sent me the email to activate the account, but it was busted or something.

It said to click here if the link isn't working, and that didn't work either.
It gave me an activation code, but I'm not sure where to enter it.

I'd love to leave a reply on there for you, so if you have any info on how I can fix this problem, that would be great.

Thank you, I try really hard to make sure I do a professional job in our representation. I am always so nervous right before, hoping I don't mess up and make us all look like ninkapoops. I really appreciate all of your kind words and support :)
