this is one of my first poems i ever really wrote...i believe i was in 10th grade...so it was in 2001...i'll post more over the next few weeks, and pretty much all of them have a religous mindset as you'll see...
Hand in Hand
This sinful world, such a *****
plays tug-o-war
with me as the rope
it's time to settle the score
grab a knife cut the line
it's finally time
fill the world with hope
take what is rightfully mine
break these chains, set me free
help me to see
the good in the world
however scarce it may be
fire the gun, start the race
you're in last place
such a special girl
but you have fallen from grace
raise your head, grab my hand
i'll help you stand
but not i alone
the force behind me so grand
hand in hand, side by side
we will not hide
we can do it all
if you can swallow your pride
i stood you up when you fell
now all is well
let's join together
walk away from this hell
it's pretty apparent that i didn't really hold the same theme throughout the entire poem, and you could almost break into 2 separate ideas...but that's they way i wrote it, and i know what it means to me, so that's the way i'll keep it...
