I just finished reading this story..
Baby Born In Bay Area With 12 Functioning Fingers, 12 Toes (http://www.ktvu.com/news/18608582/detail.html#-)
Personally I think it is awesome. Generally when people are born with extra digits they are half formed or don't always function and not always present on all the limbs.. but this is not the case here.
In my opinion this is evolution at work. I have always asked myself how would we as humans evolve over time if any time someone has something different we "correct" it.
I know that life will be hard; gloves, stares of other people but can you imagine the possibilities of extra fingers? Even just typing would be interesting!
Hopefully the parents will choose to let him keep them and decide later what we wants to do. It seems like they don't intend to change them for now :)
