View Full Version : Dell Notebook Battery Recall - 4 million + batteries affected
Attention
If you have a dell laptop purchased between mid 2004 and the end of july 2006, there's a fair chance you'll be a part of this recall. A number of the batteries have short circuited and caused some fires, check the inquirer for a bunch of pictures and whatnot. Its worth doing if only because you'll get a new battery, I know with mine the lifespan has dramatically dropped so I'm happy about a new one, and of course the increased safety is always nice. So please, if you have a dell laptop go to their recall website

You will need to look at the back of your battery where there is a serial number.

Yeah, I posted about this awhile ago, and linked an article. Skywalker made this picture that came from the article:

I found the post (http://www.pmsclan.com/forums/showthread.php?t=814&highlight=dell). It was only a matter of time before they got recalled.
Batteries for the new MacBook Pro's are getting recalled too, but not because they explode, they're just defective and don't last.

If you think that's weird, check out this (http://www.techeblog.com/index.php/tech-gadget/strange-dell-bug) article about putting your cell phone next to the CD drive of a Dell. It even has a video to show what happens.

I was trying to get to sleep last night and all they were talking about on the radio was how those batteries were getting recalled.
I just got a new computer and I was thinking about a getting a laptop. I'm happy I didn't.

I have a Dell notebook, but my battery is not part of the recall. Apperently the batteries are made by Sony, so it's a good chance Sony will be recalling a few products as well.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm double checking mine even though it's not on the list of affected versions. I have an E1405

O man mocha that sucks I'm sorry. Yeah today I got up and was watching Good Morning America and they were talking about the batteries and how they were being recalled and they even think that an airplane was caught on fire because of someones laptop battery (it was probably checked the person didn't do it on purpose), but no one go hurt. That doesn't mean its not a problem though.
