So lately (since last night actually) I have been having this issue with my optical mouse..

If I let the cursor idle for a couple of seconds it gets "stuck". I have to "click" before it will move again. Or it disappears and I have to click to make it appear.

I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue.. I'm actually wondering if it is the result of my 5 month old daughter whacking the crap out of my keyboard. She managed to make all sorts of weird things pop up and my keybaord has a lot of those extra buttons on it.

My other guess is maybe I got infected with something that is taking up a lot of my CPU memory but I can't really check if that is what is causing my mouse to "hang" because I have to use the mouse to access the task manager (Vista) unless there is a short cut for avoiding that screen that pops up when I push CTRL+ALT+DEL on vista.

Anyway any help or thoughts is welcome. I've been trying to clean up my computer (it's pretty clean so there isn't really anything I can remove) and google it up.. but no luck so far. :/

What type of mouse do you have?

Hmm I suppose that would help a bit huh? LOL

Logitech Cordless Desktop® LX 700

Currently going to try to update drivers and see if that helps

Drivers and soft ware didn't help.. it's still doing it :/

Have you tried to use windows restore? also, have you tried to uninstall the hardware, physically remove it from the usb/ps2 port, reconnect it, and then reinstall it with the drivers again?

oh, to bring up system processes, hold the windows key, and hit r on your keyboard. In the run window, type "taskmgr.exe"

i believe this will work on vista.

I should have gone back to my post.

I sorted whatever was wrong with it. I let the mouse completely die.. which took like 3 days after it kept screaming "critical" at me. Then I charged it all the way back up and it magically worked.
Guess setting it back on the base every time I'm not using it isn't best. In fact I think it's probably better to let things with chargable batteries die every once in a while. I know it's that way with cell phones and I killed my old laptop by having it constantly plugged in, now the battery holds NO charge.

But yeah, thanks anyway :)

yeah, if you would've included that it was a wireless mouse, it would've been a dead giveaway at either the batteries or the IR receiver on the mouse =]
