The most important feature in a mouse is how it feels in my hand. I don't really care about lights, and the dpi. As long as the mouse feels good feels like its molded for my hand then I am happy.

I think the x5 would better suit my gaming needs because, well to be short it seems simple and something that is simple, cheap and nice is good enough for me.

most important feature...hmm...i guess bottom of the mouse because with no ball, i wont have clean as much and i could aim properly or train myself without the bumpyness....like my old somewhat half broken mouse...

.......i guess it doesnt really matter to me since a gaming mouse is a gaming mouse even though they are different from one another and/or are better from one another...................... >_>
(bleh i suck at this XP)

The most important feature of any gaming mouse for me has to be the fit. It has to be comfortable for long hours of gaming and must also allow for a variety of grips. The more buttons the better.

Honestly... I feel the original sidewinder would suit me better as it has a weight system, I like a heavy mouse, if you've ever shot a target pistol (http://www.bullseyepistol.com/equipmnt.htm) you know why, they are heavy for accuracy and less recoil. However I have used sidewinder products before and am willing to give this one a shot :D I think this mouse would be great for me as it looks large and should fit my hand nicely, and if its too light, well, thats what duct tape is for. :mvwink:

*EDIT: plus my Fatal1ty is breaking/broken so I needs a new mouse anyway :D

I'll be reviewing the fatal1ty at another time. Some good some bad things about that one too. I do know what you mean about the pistol, but that is definitely one area that in my opinion gaming dramatically differs. You don't get recoil with a mouse ;)

i think one of the MOST important features with the new x5 was getting rid of the LCD screen, i went to the sidewinder website to figure out if there was actually any use for the lcd screen the only thing i could find on it was "first ever lcd screen". it was entirely useless and put there for show. both the company and the user saved alot of money by killing out these type of useless attachments. as a matter of fact the x5 actually reminds me of a sidewinder x1.5, in the pictures posted design looks the same but more sleeker and a smaller scroll button. they weeded out the things that didn't need to be there a very smart choice in my opinion. sometimes simple quality over quantity will get the job done.

so after reading what i had to say I'm sure you realize I'm all for the new x5, don't get me wrong the sidewinder series really doesn't make a bad mouse. i guess this is just personal opinion.

Great review. Having a wide variety of gaming mice today, it is important to find what suits your needs. I think the most important features in a gaming mouse is how it contours to your hand and the natural feel of it. Also, hardware and software customize ability to achieve total control and comfort. This mouse looks great compared to it predecessor. It seems they cut the excess fat and slimmed it down to a beast! It's Amazsome of how much thought went into the development of this mouse. I would love to get my hands on it to test it out.

The most important feature in a gaming mouse is the number of buttons and configuration of them. Take me G5 for example, the side button is very important as that is my microphone button for CS:S.

Having used the original sidewinder once and seeing the review for the X5, I feel that the new one would suit me better than the old one. Although I like the LCD to say what dpi setting is currently being used, its not needed if you have a good memory.

Good contest and great prize. :)
Just wondering why it's open for US residents only, when none of the previous ones were?

Cause its sitting in the box in my room atm, and paying to ship to anything outside of north america - i'd be spending practically as much as the product is worth :x

May I ask how you will be shipping it? I work closely in shipping and if that package is around 5 LBS. it can be shipped between 7-10 bucks coast to coast.

I most important feature in a mouse for me is how it feels under my hand. I don't care how a mouse performs if I cannot be comfortable playing with it. I have sold high priced gaming mouses because they didn't feel right.

I think I would prefer the Sidewinder X5 over the original, as I don't use any special features. As long as a mouse is comfortable, works, and affordable, I am happy.

Not here for the comp as Im uk but just wanted to put my "2pence" in.

The x5 is an improvement but not by much if you ask me, I still thought when i had a feel of the mouse it just didn't feel of the right texture to me, weird to say but the main key things to your aim is the feel and natural glide of a mouse (combination of weight and smoothness on a mousemat).

For me the standou 3 mice that have these elements are the Logitech Mx5 the Razer Deathadder and one that stands at the top (even though i dont have it) is the SteelSeries Ikari Mouse

Once you get use to it, everyone swears down by it.
