Recruit Tags Issue

Hi guys!

As some of you know, I'm trying to get into the PMS COD4 PC NA Division. (That's a mouthful, ain't it?)

I've spent the last 10 years of my online gaming career playing under the name Vixen, but apparently that name was already taken. Oh well, I guess it happens. I chose a new name, FemmeFatale, and went with it.

PMS FemmeFatale [r] was born, however in COD4 the length of your name is limited to 15 characters. Because of this all that fits is PMS FemmeFatale.

Something was said about me not wearing the correct recruitment tag and I PM'd H2O Minion on the issue, but I really don't know what to do at this point. I don't mean any disrespect by omitting the [r], it just doesn't fit. I tried to work around this by editing the files in my C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles folder, but the reward I received for trying that workaround was no changes indicated and the game generating a profile error and dropping my rank and stats back to the beginning. (Level 25 ===> Level 1 and 0 hrs time played with default weapons and no perks)

At this point I don't know if I should show up for practice because of this issue until I hear what the recrutment and/or division leaders have to say. I don't want to create any issues or offend anyone with the missing [r] thingy.

Can any leader here please lend some insight on what I should do? Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried PMS FemFatale [r] Once your recruitment is over you could drop the [r] and readd the [me]

I'd definitely bring this up directly to your Recruitment Manager & Division Leader. I'm guessing you're doing COD4 for the PS3 or PC? Jeep has a great idea as well, of dropping the m in Femme just until recruitment is over. Is it free to adjust your gamertag? I can't remember with the PS3 but I know they don't charge you for much (if anything) over there. :)

well im a little confused here. if your PMS then y do u still need the "r"? dont u have to be done with recruitment before you can change ur name to PMS? so why are you still worried about putting the "r" in there if ur a PMS member???? im confused...:mvconfused:

I'm still in recruiting status, so the [r] is supposed to be there. The only problem is that it just doesn't all fit.

I guess I can change my name, but an incorrect spelling just seems stupid. I already had to restart the game back at level 1 over this, losing 25 of 55 levels, (Though I've already gotten back to level 11... again)

I guess I may have no choice but to play, put in another 8 or 10 hrs to get back where I was, get thru recruiting, then once "in" start over from level 1 with no weapons choices.... again. It's not the rank that irritates me, it's having to start with few weapons choices and relegating my status to "moving target" until I can get the real weapons to compete.

Having to keep starting over just takes the fun out of this game.

The issue is that I'm not oficially PMS... still just a recruit whose entire recruit tag doesn't fit in her game name.

read the full post she said shes from PC, and yea you'll just have to shorten your name, for the time being. I think you could get those levels back just get on vent and if you dont have the info xfire me Tw1zzt1D

i DID read the full post! im sorry i didnt realize that in the PC division you can change ur name to PMS before your recruitment is over. in the xbox division you cant change ur name to PMS______ until your 30 day recruitment is up. that's y i was confused...sorry! i guess every division is different...i thought they were all basically the same. my mistake. i never read the rules for the PC division cuz im in the xbox division so there was no way for me to kno that. i was trying to help but i just didnt understand. what if u do Femme Fatale for the recruitment (cus thats only 12 characters) and then just change ur name to PMS when recruitment is over and you dont have to have the "r" anymore. idk just an idea :p

yea in PC you are required to wear the tags always and while in recruitment you must have a [r] after your name

How embarrassing.

I dunno, I play for fun... is it even worth continuing recruitment if I feel stupid and self conscious the 20-30 hrs a week I spend playing this game? The only real difference is the tag, and after this whole debacle, I'm not sure I can even feel good about that either.

It's not about the PMS or the [r], it's about using a name that one can be proud of. If someone told you to alter your game name, how would you feel? I'm hurt.

I may not have been the best player, but I still think that my 10 years experience as an active duty military officer, War College, JMITC & NMITC knowledge could have eventually brought something different to the team.

Don't be embarrassed. This isn't something you should feel stupid and self conscious about. I'm sorry about your name, I'm sure you have a great attachment to it. As you can see there are supportive people here who are trying to give you helpful suggestions. So I hope you do continue your recruitment and I'm sure you'll make a great asset to the division.

i can feel ur pain honey...im gunna be an official member tomorrow and im gunna be PMS Wifey and i would have been SOOOO mad if i couldnt get my name! i was so worried while i was waiting for them to clear it! so i can feel ur pain and im so sorry! it totally sucks that nobody can have the same name when u have had a name for awhile and ur attached to it and ur used to ppl calling u that! but on the other hand it's for the best because say that other vixen girl did something terrible to one of the other members and then ur name is vixen too they would associate you with her! it's very confusing when ppl have the same name or names that are very close! My name has been Wifey for as long as i can remember...BUT i did have another name lined up that i would want if it came back that i couldnt have Wifey because i want to be a part of this clan no matter what my name is! i have made some really great friends and this clan is like a family to me! If you feel like u can't live without the name Vixen and u dont want to be a part of the clan anymore then that's all ur choice! but even tho i dont kno you...i hate to see you go because of that! :mvsad:

Don't worry! I couldn't have my name. There was already a PMS Cortana and I wanted Cor7anaV, but it's too close.
Hey, it's your name! But sometimes something we do have to compromise. LadyVix sounds like a really cool name!

Oh, and once you finish recruitment, you can always get a sig with your PMS name and your personal name, like mine!

and yes I feel your pain its hard to change a name I say just alter it enough because LadyVix does sound hot or see if the other vixen is still active or if she is still around at all and maby u can take the name for yourself? its a possibility but I dont know the technicalities around the name rule

Trust me, it isn't worth abandoning the clan over a name. Most of the time, people end up going by first name after making friends around the clan.. and if not, you already have a forum name "Lady Vixen" that isn't being used.. :s.

yea the other vixen is definitely still active...it's VikingVixenPMS and i just played with her last night lol but i really REALLY like LadyVix...but it's all up to her :mvsmile:

With all the "Dark" names that we have.. you could totally use LadyVixen or some other form of Vixen and everyone would still call you Vixen.

LOL i didnt even see ur post...u must have like posted right as soon as i clicked on "quote" for twizztid lol but i guess another vixen did slide in! but VikingVixenPMS has been here FOREVER! so idk maybe back then they didnt have that rule! but yea u can def have a variation of the name...i know it says you can't in the rules but we have so many "rose" names...

It's been an emotional week for me, and I think I needed to unplug for a little bit and regain my composure.

For the time being I'll probably move to PMS LadyVix [r], then decide on a final name after recruitment.
