View Full Version : Come up with contests - win prizes for your ideas!
Here at PMS and H2O we love to give out prizes to our loyal readers. In fact, we have trouble coming up with enough contest ideas to give out all the products that we have. So win some prizes by coming up with contest ideas!
A few requirements about the contests:
There are two options for types contests. One is a fair skilled based contest. (Such as designing wallpapers, writing blogs...etc). The best wins. Option two is a fair random contest, open to those who read the post and are willing to participate. They may be required to to some sort of thing, but if a random winner is chosen, everyone must be able to complete those requirements if they chose to (doesn't mean they have to be easy, but they have to be able to).
Contests must not require an insane amount of administrative overhead. We love to do contests, but we love them significantly less if they require a ton of work on our part.
Creative! The ideas need to be creative, but they also need to be legal. We can't ask people to go spray paint the first dog they see for a prize.
Tasteful - nothing raunchy please. Nothing destructive. Just good clean fun!
Please e-mail contest ideas to h2orip@pmsclan.com and post in this thread: to notify me that you have submitted a contest idea. Any contest ideas that we use, whomever submitted the idea will receive a prize!

Problem 1 - i'll be in LA for e for all
Problem 2 - we have 24 different midnights and clan members in at least 12-14 of them :p
Problem 3 - the forum doesn't designate seconds for when people post, so it will be tough to determine which is the first after midnight.
Problem 4 - the poor forums getting spammed at midnight!
But maybe we'll do something sort of like this concept, i'll think about it - so you may be a winner yet - we shall see.
But more ideas people! I need ideas!!!!!

um so far I have 3 ideas submitted? So pretty much if the contests ends now everyone who submitted an idea would get a prize. How's that for odds?
AND FOR YOUR LAZY BUMS, MAYBE ITS A BIT OF INCENTIVE!
Ok people, so you don't focus on the prize and start worrying about ideas:
Bare minimum: 1 in 3 win, even if i get 100 entries. (Must be legit unique ideas!)

EDIT: Went ahead and sent in a couple more... are we limited on the amount we can send in?
sending in more will only increase your odds. But please make sure any submissions are well thought through so Its easy for me to understand what you're getting at.

Actually that has potential vball, though I will not make myself necessarily the subject of such torture, I may come up with some creative ideas based off that. We'll have to see what i think of - but keep the ideas coming!

Just a thought....
I have seen other groups do graphics contest.Where you give the rules and what you want made and then a bunch of people make images off of the description. You can use the graphics on you site and the people who had the best images and one could get a prize.

Higherups vs lower ranks or how about a Recruiting Contest or maybe just maybe a Screenshot Contest for H3 or a Montage Contest for MW2 L4D2 etc. etc.

How about coming up with a new PMS|H2O Clan slogan? A new updated take on "Play Like A Girl / Play with girls". The winning slogan could not be used at all aside from the contest, or it could perhaps be incorporated into a t-shirt design in the future on zazzle. The top 5 slogans could then be posted in a poll on the forums for the community to vote on, with the winner getting an official PMS or H2O t-shirt.

How about a sig contest.
30 Days / 30 Sigs
Every participant has to follow the honor system and use NEW material only, no premade sigs or elements.
30 Days following a theme for each day. Individual pieces will be voted on and the participant with the most winning sigs overall is the winner. Do a prize for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
All sigs must be 500 x 150 jpg or png format. Each sig must follow the requirements for the day including source image, theme, and/or extra requirements such as text usage, color, etc.
Themes could include: use of slogan, use of logo, game titles, random things such as "use THIS source image to create a sig" or "use different parts of THESE source images to create a sig" etc. Or my favorite theme that I've thought of so far, "USE MICROSOFT PAINT AND YOUR NON-DOMINANT HAND TO CREATE A SIG WITH THE PAINTBRUSH TOOL!"
Just an idea for those that are into artistically related challenges.

PMS/H2O sticker design... not sure if we have stickers yet.
and theeeeeen... the first person that sticks them in fifty DIFFERENT locations, with pictures and time stamp, all over their city gets a prize!? <3
it'd be a great way to get advertised and also share the story with different people that witness you posting the stickers. ^_^
i really like the sig contest that nokout suggested. i may actually participate in that. :D

I've been running the PMS H3 podcast for over 7 months now and I've been using the same intro music this whole time. I would love to see a contest for clan members to create a new PMS/H2O theme song.

How 'bout we have tourneys on certain games each month? If anything, the winners could receive a free tshirt? Just a little something to stir up some competition and maybe even get folks to try new games.

Maybe do it for one game for each system like ps3,360,& pc. So that way it doesn't require the admins to a lot of work. each person in those divisions that are in charge could work on each bracket. That way the other higher ups can maintain focus on other things that might need attending too. or something like that.
