Hm..well, just last week we paid $300 to install a broadband internet connection that guarentees at least a 1 MB speed connection. Since then, it has been fast, but it keeps disconnecting! Its so weird. I will be in the middle of a halo game, and it will disconnect me saying "a network cable is unplugged" Then after 3 seconds or so it will reconnect itself, but I have to login to xbox live again and get an invite back into a game. This is really annoying, especially during practice. It might do this every 5 minutes, every 10 minutes, or stop for a few hours. Does anyone know what the problem may be? I tried restarting the modem, computer, etc.
When we called the company, they said it might be a bad cable. JKFDJSKLS STUPID INTERNET!
Yeah.

How is your home network set up? Does the computer you've got connected to the net also disconnect a lot? Have you tried changing the ethernet cable?

Yes, the computer constantly disconnects, telling me the network cable is unplugged. My internet is connected to a router, which was installed by a professional, and the router goes to a module thing in the wall, which connects outside to a dish, which receives signals from a very nearby tower. I guess they will have to try to replace the long cable for me..

The fact that there's a dish involved makes me a bit concerned. When you're using the PC and you're getting disconnected, I assume you don't get a "A network cable have been disconnected" message from Windows?

Well, on my taskbar a little bubble pops up that tells me a network cable is unplugged..but doesnt use the word "disconnected". I think tomorrow Im just going to call them out and make them come here and fix it. Sorry for the rant-post, haha.

Unless you've got some really, really odd config, that is.
Is the router unstable - will it reboot on random or when the net link dies?
Have you tried with a ethernet cable that you know works?
