Help with X360 gamer tags

Ok what I want to do is have two gamer tags, my Rusted Retro one and PMS Retro as well. But I dont know how to have a 2nd gamer tag on the one xbox. Can it be done?? And if I am playing on the 2nd tag do I have to redownload all the maps etc I have or do they carry over cause they are on the same system. Sorry to sound like a complete and utter dweeb but I only have the one tag and I use that for both PMS and for my friends, so I would like to be able to play with my friends on one tag and PMS on another.

well when you make a new tag. it will go onto your hardrive and it will ask you to select which one you want to use, when you sign on if you dont select which on to startup with.and most DLC will switch over except for arcade games...

I apologize, this will be a little bit long.

First, if you want to XBox Live accounts, you will have to pay for both of them. It sucks...i know. But thats the breaks. Only one Live subscription per gamer tag.


As far as DLC goes...this happens two ways.

When the DLC is first downloaded, it is synced in two ways. One if via your gamer tag, and the other is via your hardwares ID.

If you have created both accounts on the same machine, both accounts will be able to access all of the DLC on that machine, without any issue.

However, if you take your gamertag onto another machine, you can only use the DLC that was downlaoded from that gamertag, and it can only be used by that gamertag, when it is signed in as primary.


For example, my friend bought a new 360 for his wife to use int eh other room becuase she liked to play arcade games.

When she would use the main 360, she could play everything on her console Login (live silver account), even though it was downloaded under his gold account. Becuase the DLC was linked to that hardware.

When they had the second system set up, only he could access the DLC arcade games under his profile login on that system. When she would log in, she could see none of the content. So they essentially had to pay twice to get all of the arcade games she wanted to play onto that second console. Because none of the content was linked to that system.

So as long as both accounts are contained on the same system, you will be good to go with your DLC. But remember, you will ahve to pay for two Gold Live accounts if you intend on gaming on both of them. :(

Thanks for the help guys. Went and made my new tag and its gold as well. So I should be able to play everything on both accounts since its on the one console.
