ok so recently my family got a new laptop, but my sister has always complained about her old one (not enough hdd space)
so once we got the new one, my mom decided that she could have it, so her old one becomes mine

the problem is all her stuff is still on it
is there any easy way to transfer them
without like using a external hdd or burnin all her files to multiple cds?

like would ethernet cables work? (kinda doubt it)

a good way my friends and I have found(we are not super tech savvy) is depending on what your trying to transfer it to plug into the same router and use aim to transfer files.

Should be able to create a network on the Win2k(Sharing the drive) then access via new Vista pc with relative ease. Just make sure Network Discovery is turned on. May need to turn on "Enable File Sharing".

What you need to do is this:

on your machine (win 2000 laptop) move everything she wants to a single folder in the C drive

right click on my computer, and select properties, then select the computer name tab. Note what it says for the workgroup (should be WORKGROUP or some such)

Right click the folder and select "share"

On the newer machine, go to network places (I'm not sure exactly what it is called on Vista, but they changed the whole network layout. It should be easy to find). If you do not see your laptop (the win 2k machine), expand the network to "entire microsoft network" and see if you can find the workgroup the laptop is part of.

Select that, and the laptop's name.

Drag the folder to the C drive of the new laptop.

This should work (in theory).

If you have any problems, let me know, I'll try to walk you through them.
