This was posted by PMS KillerVixen on the Myspace Bulletin Board and I think everyone in our community should see it. Alot of odd things have been going on, like things not working right, stuff diseapering, and messages left on the bulletin, that you know your friend would not post. So please make sure you don't post any personal information and you change your passwords. I suggest changing your privacy settings too.

This is a re-post, some important issues here, it just might concern you ..... please pass this on when you are done reading.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There has not been a power outage at MySpace Data Centers (they are avoiding telling us the truth)... but there may indeed be some database problems because MySpace is being Hacked hardcore.

I've been seeing a lot of bulletins supposedly posted by my friends that I KNOW my friends would not send.. and those of you who have had it happen to your account know what I mean.

IF YOU SEE a bulletin from a friend that says "Check out this link" or "Look at this video" anything like that... BE CAREFUL. Your friend might not have sent it. If you click on the link in the bulletin and a page comes up that looks like the MySpace login screen. Don't assume that "Oh crap.. I guess I have to log in again". Look up at the address in the address field at the top of your browser (you know.. where you type them in). If it does not say MySpace.com or bulletin.myspace.com then DO NOT put in your email login and password.

What is happening is this... a hacker has mirrored the MySpace login page by duplicating it in every detail... which means he has Web design skills. Then he/she hosts it on a fake server somewhere... maybe at home... or stealing space from one somewhere else. When you enter in your login and password again.. it is being saved straight to the hacker's database or server. All they have to do is get a few real users (your friends) info... and then it starts a chain reaction.

Many of you use your same email and password info on other sites.. maybe even for online banking.... if you think you have accidentally logged into one of the fake MySpace pages... go change your password everyhwere you use it... !

If you don't believe me.. ask some of your friends that you thought were sending out stupid bulletins with links to porno sites or links to things that weren't even there... and I'll bet they will set you straight.

Also.. here is an article I found today after I got pissed that the site was down again. I Googled "MySpace" and "Hacked" and found this from 12 days ago.

Yeah, 2 of my friends were infected by this, and I've been getting bullitin spam out of the FunnyBunnyFunnyBunnyFunnyBunny. But I knew beforehand to not click them, so I'm fine.

One thing the message has got wrong is that it takes skill to mirror a site. It doesn't. There are dozens of programs that do it for you.

Probably just another case of some kid with programs thinking he's some "leet hacker."

*sigh* I never really liked myspace anyways lol.

I don't even touch Bulletins but it's sad that people put time and energy into such destructive things.

My myspace password is different from every other password I have..

Also, that probably explains the myspace message (on the login screen) saying to check and make sure the link is correct.

I've actually gotten a couple screens of the "fake" myspace. I just refresh my page.

Craziness I tell ya!!
I don't think I'm ready for the "myspace" era to end yet :p

Just dont click on the links and you should be fine.

Its painfully obvious which bulletins are the harmfull ones.. Anything that resembles spam e-mail has a 100% probability that its worthless junk and a near equal probability that clicking on it can be harmful.

I highly doubt myspace is being hacked.. but as far as I can tell they are taking measures to make it more fool proof.. (the flash upgrade for example).

People who have lost their "about me" sections.. while I dont know for sure.. probably had some malicious code embed itself into their page and was attempting to spread itself. Ever see that "click yes to run Active X control" when checking out a profile? Theres a good chance thats malicious code as 99% of the people on myspace would not be running anything requiring Active X. You click yes and you're basically opening the door.

So as a result the security team at myspace is probably keeping an eye out for profiles that have had malicious code attach itself and just wipe it clean.

Thanks for the heads up. Since the crux of this problem is user error.. the best way to combat it is to educate people.

One of my friends got hit bad.. she sends out 5-10 bulletins a day of worthless garbage.

i like myspace, but it is super slow sometimes due to the millions of people on it. my myspace password is strangely enough different than my other passwords, so i should be ok.
