OK, so I'm now going to show the advantage of being "slighter older than the average bear" :mvwink:

Back in the day, where limewire didn't exist and AudioGalaxy was king of all p2p music sites, BUMP was used a fair amount to point the finger of 'newness' at the n00bs (or newbies as they were called back then) and also to aviod repeating oneself in a 'thread' or 'post' the acronym BUMP (OH btw, BUMP should ALWAYS be in UpperCase to avoid confusion with bump) stands for "Bring Up My Post"

*Takes bow*

Errrhum, Thank you. :D

So... right now Im in Tennessee, and honestly - I'm going through some SERIOUS CULTURE SHOCK!!!

All of my conceptions about Americans have been pretty wrong! Well, some, not all! haha

Here are a few things I've discovered: White Castle burgers taste like poopy, but come in really cool boxes... Detroit really is a scary place... Americans are crazy about advertisement - their signs are like 50feet in the air, even like McDonald's sign... Walgreen's (a pharmacy) has a drive-thru!!!... American's are pretty lazy, but not too fat, which is weird lol... there are churches everywhere, but no Mosques or Synagogues... the 'hood' and 'ghettos' really do look like in the movies and music videos...

That's all I've got so far - I've only been here two days lol
I'll post more later! lol

Translated from French
I am a French-Canadian, and I hate the Montreal Canadiens and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Despite the fact they aren't doing that well this season, I support the Ottawa Senators in the Eastern Conference, and the Vancouver Canucks in the Western Conference. I hate beer, and anything alcoholic. I prefer pop (or soda, if you will) in the likes of Pepsi, Mountain Dew or 7-Up. :)

Lol, I kept running into this one guy in a MW2 TD, and killing him. Not intentionally, we just kept running into eachother. I must have made 10 kills off this guy, and he sent me a message at the end that said "F*** YOU, EH!!! I have my Title as the Canadian flag obviously.

It didn't bother me, because I am Canadian and I do say Eh:) Lmao! I sent him a message just to be a B**** that read "Lame, you just got owned by a girl".....he never replied back:D

I always found the "EH?" thing funny because Americans say it too. We might say it more often but I still don't know why Americans act like it's a Canadian word or something. XP

As for funny American things... how about vinegar on fries! Freaks them out every time. hehe

If I'm talking with friends, and if they say something like "Well that's just stupid" I find I always reply after some thought, "Yeah, eh", or "I know, eh" lol. But other than that, I don't say it so much. I wonder how it got to the point where people assume we just always say Eh...

To a lot of Americans, vinegar is a cleaning product, not something you put on food.

I hear it all the time, or at least often enough that I don't think it's really a Canadian thing.

I'm in Ontario & people DO say "eh" alot here. But it's not like we finish every sentence with it or anything.
Vinegar on fries is awesome. Where I live you can go to a french fry truck and they have more than one kind of vinegar to choose from! I think it's sad if there are people eating fries and missing out on the awesomeness of vinegar!

I don't think anyone ends every sentence with "eh" I just notice it a lot more from people at my univeristy who are from the Eastern coast of Canada. Not so much in someone from the Praries or Western Coast.

I don't know why majority of Americans think ti's weird. We got Salt & Vinegar Chips. Different texture, but not too different from each other. And actually I've seen ketchup chips heh. Interesting flavor.

I dunno, I suppose part of that reason might be because I'm asian? I do notice around my area that a lot of asians try out almost everything, not to discriminate you caucasian americans either :p

yea i was thinking of that as well. there is a one 10 mins away from wonderland for $119.00. if 4 people use the same room its pretty much 30 bucks each which isnt too bad and im sure 2 more can fit which would lower the cost to 20 each.

Hey there Bombshell, good to see your still around :D
Just wanted to throw some political news out there. Today Jack Layton, passed away, RIP, and there is already a thread for that. Michael Iggy, no longer the leader to the Liberal party, and Jill Ducept (Or however you pronounce his name) is no longer the leader to the Bloc Quebec. Harper, is the last man standing. Food for thought. I myself support Harper for the most part, and hope he fixes the gun laws, self defense laws, etc.

I'm very interested to see who they'll select.

Wonder who it will be. either way Quebec will be pissed, since most of them voted for Jack, and not the party itself.
Personally, I don't trust a party that bans body armor. (That be here in MB.)
They are very socialistic in there ways.
When he was saying during the elections about hiring 5000 nurses and 1000 more doctors, I had to laugh. Spread that across the country and it's not very much. Second, there are 3 levels of Nurses, LPN, RN, BN, (Thats how it is here in MB.) an LPN makes about 40,000/year, RN about 75,000, etc.
(Imagine how much more tax this would cost too.) Do the math.
Now, if he wanted to bring in Nurses say from the Philippines, that wouldn't be good for our economy. Why, because many outlanders send the money they make back to their families. A noble thing to do, but It hurts the Country as a whole. Now, if he wanted to train new nurses, that will cost a pretty penny, But that would be the better course of action. Another problem with bringing in foreigners, is that after their contract is up, they may choose to go back home, then we have to look for new workers AGAIN. Trust me, I've seen this first hand.
One of the primary problems however, is that they make it so DAM hard, for say an LPN, to upgrade to an RN. To do this, they had to go off work for an extra 2 years education, (WITHOUT pay, or maybe if they are lucky, a TINY salary for food.) Just to learn a couple of things that are HARDLY going to be applied to the job anyway.
What they should do, is after holding a position for say, 2 years as an LPN, they should either train them on the job to learn the skills that the RN learns. Or after 2 years, pay for you to get the extra education to upgrade. Other wise, if you have a family to support, how the hell or you going to be able to stop work for 2 years. Your not, your brown bread in this case. These are topics that should be addressed. Ask any nurse whose been on the job for a few years, they'll tell ya what I just said. Don't go to management though, they just love sugarcoating things.
I could go on, but it all comes down to this, Government is suppose to be the Referee, and not Big brother telling you want you can and can not do. like being allowed to protect yourself with body armor for example.
Long live Free Enterprise. Peace.
