I'm trying to import a movie to iTunes. I did not buy the movie from iTunes. It's not working! Is there a reason for this? Or am I doing something wrong?

are you trying to load it onto itunes? or your ipod? if onto your ipod then.....

first, make sure your ipod is capable of playing videos. And make sure the movie you're trying to load onto your ipod is in the right format. that is supported by ipod's. if iam not mistaken is should be in .mp4 extension.

if you need more help PM me and i'll try to help.

I have the iPod touch, and I know that it plays movies. But like Forester said, I have to buy the movies from iTunes =[

Yeah, iTunes sucks. You're much better off buying and ripping the dvd. That program is a giant mess of spyware and RIAA turds.

There are programs that will convert your video into .mp4 format and also make it the right size for it to play on your ipod (ive done it with FF7 Advent Children so i know it works, and no it doesnt dumb down quality)... ill try to find the program i used and ill post it.

the fix-all solution for iPods- place iPod in bowl or dish (metal is good) then cover iPod with denatured alcohol. let sit for a few minutes. then, pour out remaining denatured alcohol and place iPod and bowl in microwave. set to High for 1 minute. sit back and enjoy the fireworks. Then, order a Zune.

Yes there are better MP3 players then the iPod...like the Zune.

Infact the latest crop of iPods are probably the worst they have ever made.

Personally im a huge audiophile, and i find the coloration, and overbrightening of the sound in most all iPods to be ear shatteringly annoying.

Sure the Zune may not be as trendy, or have as pretty a GUI, but i like the fact that my music doesnt sound like crap when i play it back. Plus the support for 96khrz lossless WMV is a huge bonus, and a limitation of the iPod (not that anyone with casual listening tastes would even notice either way, but still). Hurray for MS using a proper OpAmp in the Zune.

I am curious to know what your Zune shortcomings are...

To the original poster...

There are several iPod video file conversaion tools out there.

This is what i use...
http://www.xilisoft.com/ipod-video-converter.html

They make a PSP and Zune Version...its the same bloody program.
Its the only program ive used so far that properly decodes all of the video files i use, and converts them without timing problems on the audio, or really poor conversion quality.

I was manually doing all of my own transcoding in Windows Media Encoder, but that got tedious and time consuming, so the cost of that proggy to do it for me with an easy point click interface was worth the $30.

oh um.... I use Creative X-FI software for all of my conversions....

and Zune FTW... sounds better, isn't overpopulated, and has software for IM programs...one always overlooked item; wireless syncing and wireless SHARING! not something you can do with iPoo.

okay with movies like you rent or you have bought in the past (not from itunes) you have to burn them onto your computer... (which i might add is illegal if you sell the copies) but if you dont lol then you can import them into your ipod from itunes. there are quiet a few (ripping = taking movies you own and putting on computer) is what i call it. softwares out there online. just gotta find a good one. not that hard but sometimes ripping moving takes a while.

when the posters tell you to get a file converter actually what you should be able to do is just select the file name of the video go to where is .wav or whatever it is and just label it .mp4 it then should ask you to change the format and you select yes... well at least on the macintosh computer i run on it does lol

Oh god, please, go download Exact Audio Copy, then snag the latest version of LAME mp3 codec, and start ripping that way. Your ears will thank you.

Yeah you just have to find an ipod movie converter, there everywhere, most companies sell them for 20 dollars, but you can probably find one that's free, but just takes a little longer to convert, i bought one because i put movies all the time on my psp, but this one also does ipod too, it's called the Allok 3GP PSP MP4 Ipod video converter, just my 2 cents and hope this helped you.

Hi Bella,

Hows it going hun, depending on the video size etc, you could try actually uploading it to google video, then download it from there in the ipod option, then import onto your ipod.

I did it with some freestlye soccer videos and with one of my montages...

(I did that animated H3 sig for you with Bella on it, did you want it updating with PMS Bella on it ?? )
