View Full Version : Network Optimizer anyone?

Ever heard of it? I picked one up on Ebay the other day. It's Linksys brand and pretty simple to figure out.

I was told it will prioritize the bandwidth to VoIP and gaming and then what's needed for internet pages. I've had problems lately with my connection dropping for a couple seconds, then back up. Speed is great, about 15 but connectivity sucks.

Just wondering if anyone has experience with this model.

Thanks

Its a waste of money, it does Traffic Prioritization/QoS.

But those technologies are needed in a large corporate network/ISP, but is a compete waste on a home network and the difference is so negligible (around 1ms most likely) you would never notice a difference.

Good thing I only paid $20 for it... I haven't noticed much of a difference either :(

QoS is supported in most new router so you can prioritize your packets

I agree with snake. buying a better router will net you better ping than any "net optimizers" or "speed boosters". Also, other connections, such as FTP (port 21, used for file transfer), HTTP (port 80, used for the internetz) and other high usage ports (443, 25 etc) can suffer.
