After seeing the Xbox Live Vision camera in action for the first time today, I thought I'd make a little thread about this accessory that's to be released in about a month (Sept 19th for North America).
The whole thing seems pretty cool, the quality seems to be good and I hardly noticed any lag or delay, which is quite impressive.

And thankfully - Microsoft have thought ahead, as this is a tool that could easily be used for evil - yes, I'm talking about people showing off their genitalia to the world.
Only people on your friends list will be able to see your personal picture (your gamer picture will remain the same), and since you got friends and relatives (amongst others) on your friends list, people hopefully won't show off their 'nads.

There are also a couple of other fancy features that will come with the camera, it will allow to be used with your dashboard theme as well as music plugins. I don't think that Microsoft have said anything about the retail price yet, but it hopefully won't be above $50.

Admit it. The only thing that could possibly make the experience of playing UNO in your underwear over Xbox Live any more satisfying would be the ability to broadcast the spectacle in real-time to your fellow players.

Friends, the wait is over. In an interview on Gamertag Radio (via Joystiq) Xbox Live Manager Aaron Greenberg confirms that several 'classic' Live Arcade titles, such as Spades and Bankshot Billiards, will be joining UNO in being 'broadcast capable' via Microsoft's new Xbox Vision webcam.

And even if people start saying crap, just turn the camera off and the volume on the chat all the way down, finish the match and leave them negative feedback/submit abuse report/block communication.

Harassment is still a problem at Xbox Live today, and I assume most people have learned to deal with it properly by now - morons are best avoided, camera or no camera.

Besides, I assume that most people will use this when playing with their friends, and not turn it on for every single random match.

I'm excited about it. Thanks for posting the great pics panda. I'm more interested in a year or so when developers start developing AAA games that take advantage of. That will be the main reason I buy it and push others to buy it. Even if its not used at first.. increasing the installed base provides an enticing statistic for developers to consider. If 60-70% of x360 owners (i doubt it would ever get higher than that unless MS started bundling it with the system) own the camera, a developer would be hard pressed not to look at the camera as a great way to explore any potential innovations and make their product stand out.

Right. While I do think it could be a problem for some girl gamers, in reality I think most of them will only use the camera with their online friends. I'll be getting one, but only use it when I'm playing with my friends even though I won't have to worry about that problem. Actually, I don't play random games anyways. :)

Well this is where we really gotta hope guys will grow up. I mean really, they wont show you on their webcam why would they on Xbox Live. Especially when the most common convo between guy gamer and girl gamer is: Guy:"Oh you're a girl!!??You shouldnt be on XBL you should be at my house cooking and being my love slave!!"(then to buddies) "HAHA! I told her, Im a real man!!" Girl: "..........."(or snappy comeback like"Yeah well I just pwned you!" Depending on the girl) So let us hope guys can finally grow up and appreciate our female gamers as we have. Yes there are sownfalls but, there are still mature, respectful gamers out there. Let us hope the immature ones grow up, or cant afford the camera.

We hurriedly grabbed some snaps before hooking up the Vision to the ol' 360 and taking it for a spin around the UNO block ... where IT happened. We've grown (abnormally) accustomed to the sort of blue language one finds while playing outside of the confines of your Xbox Live friends list -- this is of course, entirely different than the blue language you enjoy while playing with your friends, but we digress -- but it wasn't ten minutes before we had our first PG-13 exposure.

Well I dont think the angry gamers that play Halo 2 will be on games like Texas Hold em unless they take gambling games that seriously to swear at you...

Also I cannot forsee this game being used for FPS or driving games....maybe if you are on each others friends list so you know they want start swearing at you, if they do then you have the option to remove them.

Its a USB peripheral there is no such thing as region coding a peripheral only the Xbox 360 add-on since its hardware is locked to specific regions for movies only.

I had to go to Best Buy to get it then. I was happy just to get it, but I was kind of mad that I had to go to Gamestop again for no reason.

Biking is awesome, it just can be kidna expensive, the pedals for my road bike were $150, and the shoes even more (they've got a carbon fiber bottom and a lot of other nifty designs, and are comfy as anything, but yea). I got a couple hundred miles on my bike last few weeks of summer, but with school haven't gotten much on in the last month. *sigh* I love biking though, going 40 down a hill on a bike is just an experience you can't get elsewhere (don't try it on a mountain bike though, its really dangerous lol Trail biking is awesome though on the right trails)

I've finally picked one up, and I think I've never sent so many messages from my 360 before.
Played some Totemball (which feels pretty awkward) and UNO, and I'm rather impressed with the camera.

One thing, have anyone tried to connect the camera to Windows XP Pro x64? Somehow I can't get it to find the drivers, which pretty much suck.

No. Microsoft have only released a SP1 for the 64-bit version of Windows XP Pro. But as far as I can tell, the SP1 for x64 contains pretty much the same stuff as SP2 for the 32bit version.
It's still weird that Microsoft are unable to support their own hardware at their own operating system.

Well, I know a friend who called and questioned MS about their camera not working on their PC. They downloaded SP2 and it apparently fixed the problem.
