Anybody got any recomendations on a good headset? I've been using the Logitech precision gaming headset but the mic broke off the headset a while back...using an 8 dollar clip on mic right now lol

So, any ideas?

Is it just for voice? or Full on voice + 5.1 sound?

Mine is a Skullcandy (http://bm2loveangel.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!CEB8040F8B57DD83!2431.entry). The model I got does not have a mic but they do have a bunch of interesting variations.

The sound quality is awesome and it is VERY comfortable.

As long as they don't break easy, i'll be happy

I just meant if you use speakers and just need the headset to talk only. If so, get one of the Logitec headsets for the PS2. Cheap and good quality.

But if you don't use speakers get what everyone else is suggesting.

Depends really. Some headsets have better bass whereas others are the better for more classical elements.

If you are wanting a good all around headset, I'd recommend the Sennheiser PC151 or PC161s. Inexpensive, and will give better sound quality than Creative, Turtle Beach, Plantronics. If you even notice though, while CGS may use the sponsored brand of Fatal1ty headssets, they are actually good for gaming. But CGS only uses because Fatal1ty is a co-host.... Otherwise I'm sure they'd use the SS 5Hv2s or what most of the teams practice with before matches(Aside from the 5Hv2), Sennheiser headsets/headphones.

The 2 I'd say for gaming/music would be the Sennheiser PC151s and the Creative Fatal1ty Professional. You can't beat Sennheiser's mic quality though :) The Creative Fatal1ty headset has better bass response than the Sennheisers, whereas if you go PC151, you get better classical elements with every note, etc.

For headphones if you are interested, I'd recommend the Sennheiser HD555. Great headphones for the price.

I own a pair of Sennheiser PC161's which were amazing untill i tripped over them and broke them, but I got them fixed with their awsome warranty =)

I will only use Sennheiser, i've used logitech, sony, creative and turtle beach but just the way the sennheiser reaches all the frequency's with excelent sounding bass, treb, and middle.

Newegg also has a sweet deal going on with the HD555's where they are 98 bucks and you send in ANY old headphones or earbuds regardless of the brand and get 30 bucks off. It's a steal in my opinion. The only downside is it doesnt have a mic, but it does have a anti-trip over your headphones and break them feature... I ordered a pair and I love em.

Yep, I'm a big Sennheiser fan. Their stuff is for audiophiles. As for any other brand, as I mentioned, the only ones worth mentioning next to headsets for Sennheiser are the SteelSeries 5Hv2 and the Creative Fatal1ty Pro headset. If you want more bass, go Fatal1ty headset, if you want the audiophile sounding, go for the Sennheiser PC151s or PC161s. Only real difference between the Fatal1ty and PC151/PC161 is bass response, they sound extremely similar, but Fatal1ty offering more bass. That's literally about it, lol. So if you don't really care for real "hard" hitting beats, pick up the Sennheisers. But if you want to hear every thump from hard rock and rap, go Fatal1ty.

My biggest advice would be to see if you can find somewhere that sells each, and test them out. They are both really great headsets, Sennheisers being built better of course.

I've never heard of the Sennheiser headsets before, I think I might give em a look into it :O

But otherwise. I'd recommend Icemats :P and the Fatal1ty headsets don't look too bad either.

It's not about looks though elle, it's about quality. Sennheiser is a german company that produces in what I'd like to call the utmost best quality headsets/headphones available on the market. Bose has nothing on Sennheiser.

I only recommend the Creative Fatal1ty gaming headset with the detachable mic, as it seems Creative has come close to the Sennheiser PC151/PC161 quality mark, in which I am impressed. But if asking for great build quality AND sound quality, I will highly recommend any Sennheiser without a doubt in my mind. The Creative headsets seem a bit... Flimsy. And Icemat Siberias, the sound on those are really rather poor... Easily compared to cheaper headphones. And the build quality is horrid.

You can find several Sennheiser products available on NewEgg.com (http://www.newegg.com). You can also check PriceGrabber.com, Dell.com, etc.

Depends on what wireless you're talking about - if you go with a bluetooth for PC (i'll have a review up on this bluetooth stereo headset later in the week) - i haven't noticed even a tiny delay.

Good choice, a lot of teams before matches prefer the 5Hv2s over a lot.

Just to add my 2 cents...I have the Turtle beach X1, wired for pc and 360. I love it. Great for my late night gaming (full game audio) and when I need to it quick disconnects so I can use it for skype. best deal at 60 bucks. same as buying the xbox wireless.

I'm using my onboard sound card (SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio) and Logitech Premium Notebook Headset (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=23306) while gaming.

I'm starting to wonder if a better sound quality with an USB sound card and better headphones.

Should I go with and "all in one" solution:
* Steelseries 5H V2 USB (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=20811)
* Turtle Beach AK-R8 USB (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=26204)

Or a seperate product solution:
* Creative Sound Blaster X-FI Surround 5.1 USB 2.0 (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=31777) + Turtle Beach Ear Force X-52 (http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=23524)

What do you guys recommend?

I'm also huge in favor of the SS 5Hv2 headsets. I've had one for a bit over a year now, the range of sound is good, not tinny, comfortable enough to wear for a whole day, and the mic can be placed out of the way for when you're just chilling. Also comes apart into 3 pieces for easier storage for transport. Great headset, A++ would buy again.

Out of personal experience...

Most of Turtle Beach products (and it's sister products sold under other brands) are okay. Unfortunately, their value for money goes down the toilet; they're good, but not worth dishing out $80 or so for something that does a mediocre job at its purpose: game-oriented. In that same price segment, SteelSound 5H will walk all over it, even if only on the basis of build quality and overall utility.

What I found is that the SteelSeries 4H is the best bang-for-buck gaming headsets available, at roughly $40. It's equipped with a crisp-sounding, telescopically retractable microphone. Similarly, the Plantronics 650 USB offers comparable durability and value.

For the best bang-for-buck general listening experience, you're looking at Sennheiser HD555 or similar, at $190. My friend, whose taste in audio is somewhat granular, uses SteelSeries Siberia (white colour, if it matters) and has given a big thumbs up to it; they are about $70. His biggest compliment about it would, again, be durability. Neither of these two headphones have microphones, but you're guaranteed a long-lasting, quality set of ear-boomers.

SkullCandies are the best imo for price/quality. I got a pair of SkullCandy Hesh's for under 40 bucks including shipping on ebay, and I was extremely amazed by the quality, they were almost as good as my friend's Sennheiser HD's and his were almost 150 at the time.

But, they don't have a microphone which is a downside, but I just bought a detachable one from walmart for 8 Bucks, great quality too, good luck.

SkullCandy are ONLY good for heavy bass music. Aside from that... they undoubtedly are horrible when it comes to rock music, classical, etc. Anything with mids and highs.

As far as spending $50 for the Hesh series from SkullCandy I'd MUCH rather purchase Sennheiser PC150/151s for $36 from NewEgg.... Better quality and you still get good bass.

As far as going to walmart for a mic... Pass, grab the Zalman ZM-MIC 1 for $7

Tax won't be a whole lot from Circuit City, but as they are about the same price, I'd say just grab from Circuit City.
