I'm having a heck of a time with my 360!

I had the Ring of Death in March 2008 and sent it in to xbox for repairs. I received it in April 2008 and the manufacture date of the console shows February 2008. I thought, "SWEET - new console! I won't have any problems for a while!"

But no.

During the last week of June 2008, I started getting "Unplayable Disc" errors on every disc I put in... whether it was a 360 game disc, a DVD, or a music CD. I tried it again a few days later, and I get the same error. It sounds like the disc spins inside, but it's not actually being read.

*Sigh* 2 months and I already have to try to send it back.

So I go back to xbox to do a repair. Because it is NOT the Ring of Death issue, I'm told that I have to pay for shipping and to renew my warranty... from what I remember, it's another $100. After 2 months of having the RoD issue.

I said do it for free! PLEASE! LOL. I sent it in recently for the RoD and now it craps out on me again?! That's not my fault! Hehehe. So I'm HOPING that they'll help me out... for free. :mvconfused:

I just received the shipping box and I'll be sending it in tonight. For now, I'm using my cousin's X360 and my fiance's X360 when I want to play :p They're both avid gamers as well, so finding time to play when they're not playing is VALUABLE TIME!

Dude, that sucks! I just sent in my son's console yesterday...it got the RoD....but, it lasted almost 2 years! So....we got good time out of it. Just anxious to have a console for him again so he and I can game together again! Anyways....good luck and I hope you get your's back soon, but fixed right!

Thanks! I'm hoping they'll ship a working one back to me :) Hehe. Sorry to hear about your son's X360 though! We just got my fiance's elite back the other week, so he was using mine when I wasn't using it :p

My fiance and I got to talking the other day and realized we never had any of these issues with the PS2 - and now with the PS3, we still don't have any issues... so... Microsoft needs to step their hardware game up! :p

Hmm my first gen console had the can not read disk problem, but i personally think its just dust, so ive held on to it... lol ill probably just force Red Rings on it and send it in lol after all ive been lugging it around for quite awhile (got it first week 360 came out lasted longer then it should have and only problem i get is disk read error lol no RROD)

I've had this on my 1st xbox also, but it's weird that it's happening with my new one (I received one with a diff. serial number after the RRoD) with a manufacture date of Feb 2008. I held on to it for a few days and kept trying to load discs, but no luck! So I'm waiting for them to work on it! Hopefully it does coz I don't like being xboxless for so long!

OH UPDATE! My fiance's xbox got the RRoD, so now I use my cousin's.... except his got it ONCE after we started it up and played for 20 minutes... but it works again... fishy....

i had exactly the same issue with my third 360... and again they wanted to charge me for the service but i refused... i ended up opening my 360 up my self took the cd drive apart and fixed it myself... its been a few weeks since and every thing still seems to be running smoothly...

But once you open the 360 up your warranty is void.

So its 50/50 in a way...

my 7th 360 just broke today pissing me off disk read errors good thing i got warranty in the store take it back grab a new one all tho it is a hassle repacking everything just to unpack it in 20 minutes once i get a new one

its crazy how big the failure rate of 360s are i even had a Elite Foxcon version and i still got a RROD on one and this one had Disk read error and making loud grinding noises

my other ones pro models all had either RROD Overheating problems disk read errors or bad dvd drives

I've only had my box 4 6 months and it hasn't gotten the RROD, yet. I have a feeling that it will soon. My box is taking 4ever to boot-up anything, Games, DVDs, and the dashboard. So i kno its gonna die soon, but, its gonna be a sad day.

Thats sucks, i had the same thing happen to me. Ive had 3 consoles go down with the red rings of death. My console was doing pretty good, i wasnt having any problems with it. Then all of a sudden i started getting the whole disc un-readable thing going on. I dont know why they charged you for that though. I mean i had to pay for the packaging and shipping but basically i talked them out of charging me the extra $99.00. I told them i was fed up and that they could check their records and see this is the fourth time i have had to get my console repaired and i didnt feel that i should have to pay for the repair. They wound up not charging me except for the box and shipping costs.

I had the same issue with my 360 (unreadable discs) and i got mine to work again! If you didnt ship yet i could help you probably.

The new box is supposed to have a 90 day warranty on it. I have been through this twice with 2 boxes we have. The new ones seem to be even more sensitive than the old ones. Another box we had overheated. We took it apart and it was completed compacted with dust. Vacuumed the heck out of it and it works fine. The new one I have the 3 red lights come on easily. Say I open the drive when I'm viewing a video, etc. I just shut off everything, unplug it and let it cool down and start over. I keep treating it as a multi tasking computer but it is not. I've lost game play because of doing stupid stuff like shutting down without getting out etc. Good luck. Call instead of going on-line. Hopefully you will get someone who can speak English. I was lucky. I got someone in Canada?!

Trust, I know how you feel.

Yesturday I was playing LBP with a friend on my ps3 until my system shut off... comes out to be that i got the Yellow Light of Death, similar to the RoD but its not as popular.

It sucks so much LOL...
