When ever I play cod4 for more then 30mins and I go to close out, and I get a little yellow triangle telling me I have low virtual memory. Now around this time in game I start getting lower FPS and laggy-ish game play, I was wondering if there was a way to fix it by getting more ram or something...

it means that the game is running out of space on the hard drive, more ram may help it from using less harddrive. Also you will need to defrag that harddrive.

what kind of compy do you have? laptop? desktop? and brand might also help. If you know what sort of RAM you have, I can probably post some good prices for RAM.

it doesn't surprise me you're getting that with that system, you've got a pretty small hard drive, and not a lot of RAM to start with. (Even the CPU is aging). There's sadly not much you can do with it, but trying to clear out the hard drive some may help a little.
If i'm not mistaken system requirements on the box are 1GB of ram. :-/

Ya, the best thing you could probably do is go out and buy a new hard drive and atleast 1 gig of ram, other then that your only real option is to just defrag your harddrive and try to free up asmuch space as you possibly can.
Yeah your processor looks alright but you should really get a bigger hard drive and more RAM... if possible.

if he does not need more space on his hdd then just buy memory you all make it sound like the hdd is going to do you a huge amount of good if it works fine why fix it look at its a dell it already most likely a 7200 rpm drive so memory will keep everything running smoother post you motherboard model when the bios boot up first thing then we can tell you what you need for memory and how much

Specs you want for new games include:
2 gigs of memory (you can run with less, but throw in vent, xp, xfire, msn messenger, etc etc and you start running out quick).
At least a dual core proc. You can get a single core that runs slightly over 3ghz for pretty cheap now though, and that will work if you don't have too many apps in the background.
HDD space doesn't mean too much unless you're under 20% space remaining. If that is the case, time for an upgrade.
Some good indicators that you need an upgrade are:
Your CPU usage idles at 50%, and runs at 90% under most programs (this includes word and such).
page file and virtual memory errors.
Clicking and grinding noises from your computer (we call this the click of death, or disk thrashing, which means you're driving your HDD straight into the grave, or it is already dead.)
