I... love... Rock Band :mvguitar:... but has anyone heard of Frets on Fire (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frets_on_Fire) or Unsigned (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unsigned_(computer_game))? You can plug any USB controller into your computer (I'm using my XBOX 360 Rock Band controller. Just plug it in and it installs perfectly, all by itself) and download/torrent over a thousand user-made songs and play them all on your computer for free. In addition to that, you can take any Guitar Hero disk (or maybe just Guitar Hero 1, 2 and Encore and I'll explain why later) and copy the songs onto your compy and play them on Frets on Fire.
I couldn't get Unsigned to work :mvsad: but I'm ok with just Frets on Fire for now. :mvcelebration: There's some programs for people who are really serious about their dream of playing any and EVERY song they've ever wanted on Guitar Hero so you can measure, graph, guage and chart your own songs the way you want them made but I haven't looked into them yet.
As far as the Guitar Hero 1, 2 and Encore thing goes, I think it has to do with the technology used to save the song files onto the disks. GH1|2|En. were made by Harmonix, the developer and distributed by Red Octane, the distributor. (who owned/still owns the rights to the name 'Guitar Hero') In May of '06, Activision bought Red Octane for $1billion and some stock and left Harmonix to die in a gutter/become acquired by MTV studios 2 months later to become uber successful. Because of the split and acquisitions of the teams, they were each given better resources to develop their games. Harmonix had always dreamed of making a game that used more than just guitar peripherals and Red Octane always wanted to make a Guitar Hero with really bad storyline featuring Slash and 2 other guitarists that you'd never know about if you hadn't played GH3. Additionally, they got to scrap their previous format of saving the game graph/music files to disks (.VGS files) and got to use a more efficient format.

and now you know...
anyways, if anyone has any more questions about FoF or Unsigned, feel free to ask. I'm probably not going to be able to play it at all tonight because I'm copying the song files from my GH2 playstation disk which takes like 9 daysssss... hooray!!
Oh! I almost forgot. If anyone here is familiar with uTorrent or torrenting, you can find the FoF song packs, all adding up to like over 1000 songs on Google or you can just click the links here : (I wont link the actual torrents, just the pages to find them on)
Frets on Fire Song Pack #1 - 210 songs (http://www.mininova.org/tor/818906)
Frets on Fire Song Pack #2 - 222 songs (http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3624936/Frets_on_Fire_Song_Pack__2_(222_songs))
Frets on Fire Song Pack #3 - 311 songs (http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3671314/Frets_on_Fire_Song_Pack__3_(311_songs))
Frets on Fire Song Pack #4 - 333 songs (http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3699487/Frets_on_Fire_Song_Pack__4_(333_songs))
WARNING!! : Careful on the last 3 links cuz there's some pretty PG-13 pictures on the ads on the sides of the pages they lead to. Not always safe for work, sorry to say :mvshock:
