I am so damn hyped over this game it's crazy. I just listened to a podcast w/ Cliffy B. and I gotta say... I NEED THIS GAME. Just after listening to Cliff talk about this game completely reassures me that this game will pwn everything.... GAHHH I cant wait.

Gears of War hits Nov. 12, Epic Games announced today. The much anticipated Xbox 360 game will come in two flavors, an increasingly popular way of eeking out a bit of extra cash for triple A titles. The standard version will sell for $60, while the limited collector's edition will sell for $70.

Seems like Microsoft are going to try and counter the PS3 launch with GOW. Probably won't make much of a difference.

For anyone hoping for a demo before the game's released (I guess that means every single 360 owner), this certainly isn't good news:

I don't see any way we could do a demo before the game comes out. We've said that before. Demos take a long time to create and polish and we can't afford to get derailled like that if we want to have the game in stores by Thanksgiving. Given a choice of the game this year or a demo this year and the game next year I'm sure every one of you would rather have the game this year because you're already planning to buy it. No idea if we'll do a demo or not after the game ships. I know we have some very cool plans (not 100% solid so too early to give any specifics) for additional downloadable so that might take a higher priority than creating a demo.

I don't care much about a demo either since I know I'm going to be buying it already. I'm happier knowing there will be downloadable content quickly.

The PS3's initial shipment will sell out regardless, but GoW could make a difference if Sony has any shortage problems after the initial launch. Either way, I can't wait for Emergence Day and am almost certain I will love it.

Cliff: We've got plenty of guns, remember, we're Epic! There are 3 categories of weapons - Coalition ones - usually shiny and higher tech - Locust ones - lower tech, cobbled together - and Stranded ones - old military issue leftovers.Awesome!

Gearheads: Epic is well known for its multiplayer online gaming, can we expect any innovations in Gears when it comes to multiplayer?

Cliff: I believe that our cover system, pacing of the combat, arsenal and Active Reload really add up to make something that feels familiar... yet completely unique. We just had a gaggle of press in NYC beating on the latest version of the multiplayer and they were having a blast. This was in the rainy versus map which takes place in and around an old, decrepit mansion... the wind is blowing the trees around, you can see the mist of the rain around the lamps, the sheen of the water on the cobblestone. When you go inside you're almost more vulnerable as the interior is filled with destroyable cover...sofas, drawers, chairs all explode in a splintery mess underneath a hail of bullets. It's good fun!Awesome x 2!
