Something I saw in the vBi forums thought it was interesting

19 year-old gamer becomes mayor of Oklahoma town
Teen goes from zoning out to zoning laws

Like any red-blooded American teenager, John Tyler Hammons digs rock music, fast cars, video games and...fiscal planning?

Apparently so. The AP reports that the University of Oklahoma freshman trounced 70 year-old Hershel McBride to become the mayor of Muskogee, Oklahoma, making it the first city in the nation to be governed by a self-admitted gamer.

But while he could own any of his peers at Halo 3, the fresh-faced leader is turning his sights on cleaning up the town's politics by establishing an independent ethics commission and locking down campaign finance reporting.

"I'm sure the (city) council will work with me on these issues," he said. "I campaigned on this, and this is something I intend to push."

Tired of the same old political shenanigans, the townsfolk are backing their new man.

"He doesn't have the baggage. He doesn't owe anybody anything," said cafe owner Gary Armstrong. "It's sort of a fresh start for Muskogee."

Best known as the subject of country legend Merle Haggard's 1969 hit "Okie from Muskogee," the unassuming city of 38,000 is considered the archetype of virtuous, small town America, a "place where even squares can have a ball."

And now, so can gamers.

Why not, but I forgot one state long time ago had a goat for a mayor or was it a donkey... No one wanted to compete with the mean mayor so the mayor thought it be a joke to use a goat to run against. Apprently the goat won.... and became mayor...

It doesnt matter.

The world is coming to an end, and America will remain broke.

We're all going to die people, so be happy now before you regret it later on.

Thats right. Smile. Yeah, I said it.

I lived in Oklahoma for abit, it seems Muskogee is starting to get used to giving younger people big responsibilities. When I Got my C.L.E.E.T Liscence I worked with a guy who became the youngest person to ever be placed on The Police S.W.A.T team.

I know, I learned that in 9th grade.

All I can say is dont waste your time applying for college, the sudden increase in tornadoes may have sucked it up by then.

Hmm...

These is so much random chat I can't even tell what the topic was about to begin with. Oh yea, now I remember; a 19 year old gamer became mayor. That's pretty cool, he is young and isn't corrupted by politics yet. A fresh start and hopefully a good one.

Please don't ever vote. Ever.

McCain has been keeping quiet because he has nobody to run against right now. The democrats are dumb. But Republicans have 1 thing in mind....making rich people richer.

I don't want any of them, but the worst thing for America, besides another Bush term, is McCain. It will be 4 to 8 more years of the same crap we have now. Oil companies will break our backs, and more kids will die in the middle east over nothing.

So let's at least get the crap we have in office out now, then we can work on getting a GOOD leader in office.

Ron Paul, 2012, FTW.

No point voting for people in political institutions these days. Most people have had to make deals or alliances with power groups to get anywhere. By the time some one can run for president they will alwready owe a company a favour, which they have to deliver on if they want a second term in office. Modern day democracy is just as corrupt as any other form of government. I can vote for a party here in the UK, but I know they are all just as bad as each other... its like being asked at a resteraunt would I like my steak raw or cremated. I in the end look to voting in the small guys, the green party here at least will definately help on environmental issues so they are my current favourite.

And by the way I dont see why America had such a problem with Bill Clinton, he has been one of your best presidents. He was well educated and supported a good foreign policy, you shouldnt realy care about his personal life details. President or not he should be entitled to live his personal life as he sees fit, the whole scandal fuss the media kicked out was overblown. It's your democratic right to smoke pot (well everyone has tried it), drink excessively, own a gun, and to have affairs. I would say that at least 70% of the population has done such things, after all the president should be a represntative of the people?

In no way should Hillary be held accountable for her Bill Clintons actions either.

I'm going for Hilary its something I still don't trust about Obama.... Yes this is coming from a Black person...... But, be damned if McCain came in. I'm not going to get in a debate because I don't care for politics I think each candidate has their evils. Whoever we get as a president is what people going to deserve to get themselves into.

Love the 10 dollar joke ha ha ha... What are we like 6 dollars away from that now?
