yep I had it to, like he said call it in. You need to give them the seriel number on the back, as long as your XB isent 3+ years older they will take care of everything for free evan the shipping costs

As long as you are within the warranty or have not voided the warranty then call the number above. However, if you are out of warranty then you can call a company out of Farmingdale NY called 360 Pros (http://www.360-pros.com/xbox-360-repair-service.aspx) and they will square you away. They have a maximum charge of $99.99 which includes all parts and labor according to their website plus whatever you will pay for shipping. They also claim to have a 1-2 turn around time which is damn fast.

I have had 1 warranty job done through Microsoft (got the old "Cannot read disc" error and everything went very smooth with them. From the time I first called them, including shipping time and so forth, I had a new Xbox in my hands in about 10 days or so.

I don't know of anyone who has really used a private repair company but should that be the route you, or anyone else chooses, do not be afraid to ask them for a few references (I am serious and if they are then they will be happy to oblige) as well check them out through the local and/or online Better Business Bureau. That could save you a headache and a half!

Good luck with either option you choose.

I had the same thing happen to me two times. The first time, I sent it in to Microsoft and it took 3 months to finally get my Xbox 360 back. Then the Red Ring of Death happened again only like a month later!

So I found this other company online that does repairs on Xbox 360s called iRepair Squad. They claim to be able to make the Xbox 360 better than new and guarantee the Red Ring of Death won't happen again after they fix it. They only charged me like $90 and I had my Xbox back within a week fully working again. They put in an additional cooling fan too so it won't overheat again! Anyway, here's the website: www.irepairsquad.com
