I was actually reading that article earlier on today, as a result i wont be eating my 360 for fear of poisoning. :mvshock:
The fact is a lot of plastic equipment still contains toxic chemicals that should not be used, at one place i used to work for the firm bought cheaper plastic pellets which contained toxic chemicals not suitable for the products that they were and still are producing today. Products that people buy without realising how dangerous they could be, and are probably on sale at a store near you if your in the UK.

Do they realize how much crap they manufacture is hazardous yet used in our daily lives? Look at PET bottles used for soda, water, food and even beer in some areas. Apparently re-filling them on your own is hazardous and can release a chemical which is bad for you. Go figure though because it was fine when they filled it and sold it to you.
As for consoles, hard to think that with all the things that go into one as well as PC's and so on that something along the way would not itself be hazardous or have a by product that would cause some issues. The solder used for the boards used to and may still contain some lead and CRT's contain mercury. So until they come up with a way to make these items safer, or edible as someone pointed out, it is what we are stuck with. Perhaps they should stop trying to create mass hysteria? In the meantime I am off to the landfill, I have a bunch of old PC equipment that needs to be dumped...

WTF!!! So are these chemicals harmful by being airborne and inhaling? Or being in direct contact? Do the chemicals float around my room?

In the consoles you have nothing to worry about, its only when you dump them in the bin that they become harmful to the planet thats all.

It's the same thing for cell phones, PDA's, cordless phones and so on as well as many types of re-chargeable and regular batteries. It is especially true of those made with cadmium!
If you would like to find out where you can properly dispose of things like re-chargeable batteries then you can check the link below.
Properly dispose of recyclable batteries. (http://earth911.org/blog/2007/07/05/how-to-recycle-and-properly-dispose-of-batteries/)
The same goes for printer cartridges and toner cases. I know companies like HP include an envelope with the new one and you can send off your old ones for proper recycling.
There are also places such as Computer Recycling Centers (http://www.crc.org/) that can handle older machines that are nothing more then a paperweight for you.

Pica?
A disease where those afflicted tend to consume things that have no nutritional value such as dirt, chalk, paper as well as some raw food products like flour, raw potatoes and so on. Of course this is just a small sample of what they may eat as the list goes on and includes some really nasty things.

The sad thing is that if someone has thought of/about something then somewhere else is someone who has tried.
