Right now I am trying to get this appealed but I've talked to many other people on concerns of being banned. Yesterday I recieved an email saying my account was closed using third party programs. Now interestingly I don't use third party programs and the only program I use is Switchblade, which apparently is a third party program that is not allowed. The funny thing is I found the switchblade ad in those popular xbox 360 magazines that does reviews and other things. "Relax, sit back, and play the World of Warcraft with a 360 controller!" The famous words I remember from that ad. Apparently other people are being permanently banned for using switchblade, I wish Blizzard would've addressed this issue before blindsiding their deepest fans. Now thats the only main reason I can think of, they won't tell you what third party program your using, but apparently Switchblade can macro and I can tell you my Switchblade does not macro. Stand up, spread the word, tell your friends not to use switchblade for now, I'm trying to fight this case for all of us so you all can know if you are allowed to use it or not.

Wow, I was talking about SwitchBlade with some of our guildies awhile back...thank goodness I didn't install it. I have a few free disks that were handed out at Otronicon this year. That really sucks, Blue Orb, Inc(Owners of SwitchBlade) need to get on the ball about this and talk with Blizzard about it.

I'm still fighting and appealing for my account back. Its a hard process
----Double Post Merged----
Switchblade
Offense: Unapproved Third Party Software
Action: Account Closure

While these repercussions may seem harsh, we feel very strongly that these programs have no place within the world of Azeroth. Therefore, we regret to inform you that we are unable to reverse the account action previously issued.

BAH!

I'm still getting it appealed

whats switchblade do?

It allows you to use your 360 controller for WoW, HL2, and I think CoD4 on the PC...

Good luck with getting unbanned...this was even advertised on xfire...

Indeed, it was.

The customer service is scary thats for sure.

Yes, but it can be quite easy if you have experience with it. If you feel comfortable doing so, forward me your Char details (NO, I AM NOT ASKING FOR YOUR PASSWORD, OR EVEN THE ACCOUNT NAME. JUST THE CHARACTER NAME, and NOTHING ELSE [unless it is the one in your sig..]), and I'll pass them along to a Blizz Rep//GM of the server you are/were on.

Switchblade is a recognized, and well advertised product, and it is NOT against the TOS, by all technical definitions, it is actually just a predefined control scheme.. not a macro.

I'll talk to a few people I know about this, just to get the ball rolling on Blizz actually discussing it with their Anti-Cheat dept.. the guys who maintain the "Warden", that is.

I don't see how SwitchBlade would be the reason for the ban. SwitchBlade pretty much tricks a computer in to thinking that the 360 controller is a mouse and keyboard, well, a few keys from a keyboard. I've tested it with every game on my PC and it works just fine, assuming you remap the keys to work with a controller. I've used SwitchBlade for awhile with WoW, though I've stopped playing for now because of my enlistment (it's taking up a lot of time and I still haven't even gone to BCT yet lol). Blizzard does say not to use third party programs, but I wouldn't consider SwitchBlade to violate any of their terms of service. If that was the case than the software that came with my mouse to control it's settings should get me banned too!

It's probably because you can set up some controllers to perfrom "bot" like programming and allows you to somewhat do more with the macros than what blizz intends.

I also heard on vent Kes let his buddy or someone play and was part of the ban to :P

If I were you I would try calling customer service directly instead of working with e-mails. You can get a lot further talking to a person than some guy who just sends out generic e-mail responses to all complaints.

Way I see it, using a gamepad device (which is essentially what you were doing) is in no way a violation of the Blizzard EULA. Just be persistent and polite with your complaints, and you might be able to get somewhere.

If you're using a gamepad with Turbo or programmable functions.....and use those to perform "bot" type functions....it can be
