Program Not Starting

Hey, my bud is reinstalling BF2 on his xps after sending it in for service and it getting fully formatted. When he goes to start the game it blacks out like it is going to load, but then fails and closes the task.

We updated DX to 9.0c, and checked his video driver, but still are having the same issue. It happened to me a year ago but I can't remember the solultion. Any tips? :mvshock:

Please do provide complete hardware / software specifications inclusive of Motherboard, Graphic Adapter and Driver Version etc.

Try upping the resolution on the monitor to 70hertz. Just a quick thing I can think of. BF2 is one of the buggiest games ever released, they rushed it. You aren't the only one with this issue it seems.... I googled around and found numerous others. BF2 is working fine for me though, lol.

It is more than likely what Sobe has suggested.

Try editing the video.con file in the My Documents area, of BF2. Force BF2 to start with the refresh rate set to the same value your desktop (meaning OS, not type of computer) is.

Does it make sense to tune the refresh rate if he's using a TFT / LCD display penal? Are you sure if this'd absolutely solve the outgoing problem?
