How to explain gaming...

To your stubborn parents who think all your doing is sitting in a corner in the dark vegging out.

Is there a way to tell them its not me vegging out? :(

I mean really. anyone had past success with any certain way of explaining it?

I've even used the "I have no friends in RL and I do online" and they feel sorry for me for a few days, then they go back to normal (Although thats not true)

well ask them wut they want so they dont care, as long as i get good grades my parents dont care, maybe there is sumthin they think ur not gonna do well in if u distract urself with videogames

Well what you should do is have a cool friend like me on your friends list. You see when someones parents start talking to them i say hey let me talk to them. So then i start talking to thier parents, just saying hi and saying how nice they have been doing raising thier kid and how nice of a kid they are, and just start chit chatting makeing them laugh. Once they realize that you are actually talking to ppl and they are nice ppl they seem to relax a bit. ^_^

well usually they leave me alone as long as i get good grades but i also explained the whole H2o thing and practice and stuff like that to them and since my cousin plays videogames too (Buddy H2o) my mom already knew somestuff i guess

o_o; Umm just stick with it then if you do something that relates to gaming they'll realize it..It takes a while, I mean it took my uncle 10 years for him to accept that I play video games. :mvgiggle:

My mom finally understood gaming when I made her sit down and watch me play Final Fantasy VII.

Unless the person is a gamer I dont think they will ever understand. According to my family, anytime I have a dissagreement with them, they use the old, "You dont know what your talking about, you live in a fantasy world." You dont know those people, they are probally killers. So ya show them athena twin on G4 TV and such, "Look she's a cool person, on a TV show, famous" Then ya get the response, Thats not real, Your so gulible, anything on TV isnt real I dont believe it."

So yea unless the person is a gamer they wont understand. My Ex didnt really understand it at all until i talked her into buying a 360 and now she's in PMS clan so now she does lol. I have sucessfully turned 3 non gamers into hardcore gamers thus far. The only bad thing about dating people who never gamed before and then converting them is well, You see what they went through all those long days "Come to bed, lets go out" NO NO I AM PLAYING RIGHT NOW!! Then after that It was me going
"Hey come on lets go out, goodlord its late come to bed!" Then i realized, hey this is kinda suck!
But still I'd prolly do it to the next gf lol I have done it to the last 2 and havent learned yet lol. OH OH and the worst part of all was I had to make my own dang food cause they was gaming.
